Let's start taking bets on who will be the break out player of the year. Who will wow? Who will be the Kevin Walter of 2008-09?

I hear a lot of good things about Zac Diles.

If Chris Taylor stays healthy my money is on him.

It should be a running back. Running backs always do great with Gibbs running things. Slaton has the quickness to cut back and he is small enough that he is hard to see when he does it... and fast enough to be hard to be caught from behind. But he gets hurt and CT gets hurt and Brown gets hurt and Green gets hurt... If Darius Walker can stay healthy while all the others follow form and get hurt he will be the break out by default. But whichever back makes it through the season without being hurt would be a good pick for the breakout player.

With our luck, I do not want to put my money on a RB.

I think our offense will advance by leaps and bounds this season because of the new system, but I expect our defense to advance more. That is why I picked Diles. I think he is a sleeper and the coaches are high on him.

I have a strange feeling it will be Chris Brown...

Hopefully this wont happen to him now that he's on our side.

Chris Taylor on offense. On defense? I think Weaver is going to surprise a lot of people.

In my humble honest opinion, I predict on the OFFENSIVE SIDE of the ball, that the BREAKOUT TEXAN PLAYER WILL BE: STEVE SLATON.
SLATON WAS DRAFTED SPECIFICALLY BECAUSE HE IS THE PROTOTYPICAL BACK THAT WILL DO WELL AND FLOURISH AND CONTRIBUTE IN ALEX GIBBS' DENVER RUN-ZONE BLOKING SCHEME.
ALSO, STEVE SLATON HAS 3 YEARS OF EXPERIENCE PLAYING IN A RUN-ZONE-BLOCKING SCHEME IN MORGANTOWN, WEST VIRGINIA AS A MOUNTAINEER.

MY 2008-2009 BREAKOUT TEXANS PLAYERS ON THE DEFENSIVE SIDE OF THE BALL ARE: ZACH DILES, XAVIER ADIBI, AND DOMINIQUE BARBER.

THAT WOULD BE 3 YOUNG BREAKOUT PERFORMERS SOLIDIFYING A YOUNG DEFENSE THAT ALREADY HAS: FRED BENNETT, AMOBI OKOYE, MARIO WILLIAMS, AND DeMECO RYANS.

Steve Slaton I just think he will be compared with Clinton Portis. Not bad company to be in if you ask me. I think hell become more than just a 3rd down threat. Before last year many people had him as the 2nd running back taken after McFadden. I just think if our running game can be healthy we can have potentially 2 1000 yard rushers or somewhere close to that.

On the Defensive Side of the ball I am going to say Adibi wins a starting LB spot. and is going to be a playmaker at LB.

2 easy places to make an immediate impact. RB and LB Funny how rookies in both positions usually win the offensive and defensive rookie of the year honors. HOw cool would that be to have an Offensive and Defensive Rookie of the year on the same team?

Jones has sort of slipped off my radar. I look forward to seeing him this year. He seemed to disappear last year after he was injured.

Hope he lives up to the flashes he showed last year.

My breakout player will be a real surprise: i think Okam, given NFL coaching, will be a beast.

I completely agree. He was hurt pretty much the entire year last year and I fully expect him to kill it this year.

X-man will also join the starting lineup at will linebacker and make a huge impact late in the season.

offence-we all hope it will be ahman green. BUT i think it will be andre davis..he will have 70+ rec. for 800+ yards as a HUGE DEEP THREAT not to mention 4 tds off returns. he started on returns half the season and had 2 or 3(cant remember)

defence- fred bennett, im predicting 5+ ints from him this season

- i agree completetly it seemed he was nervous to take a hit after he went down he hopfully gets over that if he hasnt already this offseason and will be a fairly decent return man and a wr with a spread offence with a 4 wr set

Yes, it was Simmons that made that hit... and if I remember correctly he knocked himself out just about and had to sit out the rest of the game.
