Interesting comment from Brooke Bentley while on 610 am this morning. She said Gibbs contacted Kubiak about a job with the Texans and not the other way around.

I actually read that on the Texans website. Kubiak said both Gibbs and Rhodes contacted him. I'll go see if I can find the link.

Kubiak noted that signing several free agents, including cornerback Jacques Reeves and running back Chris Brown, was key to acquiring depth. The greatest additions, however, may have come in the form of two legendary coaches, assistant head coach Alex Gibbs and assistant defensive backs coach Ray Rhodes, who decided to leave retirement to help the Texans.
“Between these two coaches, they’ve had 10 Super Bowls, seven wins, 59 playoff games and over 450 victories in the National Football League,” Kubiak said. “And it’s been written that I was able to talk these two guys out of retirement. Well, I’m going to let y’all in on a little secret: These two guys called me.

John McClain has an article out today that says the same thing.

There is something to be said about being a class act. It pays HUGE dividends. Never under estimate the power of being respected among your peers. I was shocked out find out THEY CALLED HIM! McNair must be beaming with pride.

I think it has more to do with Kubiak then McNair, but not like Mcnair is Chopped liver either.
It really speaks well for how Kubiak is respected aroung the league.

We have a world class facility plus our players are all high character guys...why wouldn't you want to come here if you were a coach? I definitely like the great minds that we've added to our teams these past couple of years, and it's definitely a refreshing change of pace from the Capers and Pendry types we had in the past.
On a side note, I can't believe they actually have some quotes from Gibbs in that article posted...I didn't even know the guy could speak.
Kubiak first mentioned the deal about Rhodes and Gibbs calling him at the Draft Luncheon a couple of Tuesday's ago. He made it a key point of his speech. I think that comment was news to everybody. Bentley was sitting at the table next to us with the Texans Comm Dept. (she does a great job - poised, nice voice and pro delivery) and McClain was also there since it was his job to introduce Donald Driver.
