Dude, I hate that everyone is attaching "nation" to their name. Since the Red Sox fans did it and became "redsox nation" every other group has tried it, I for one think we here in houston are cool enough to avoid ripping off some stupid yank idea. I personally do all I can to avoid that northerner nonsense and refuse to call us "texans nation", after all, outside of Texas, are we really all that popular????

We should be the Texans Republic. We should drink ice-cold Lone Star beer.

Wasn't it the Raider fans that started that whole mess of "Insert Fav Team" Nation? I always heard them called "Raider Nation" long before Redsux, I mean, Redsox Nation...
I'm part of Red Sox nation....literally I have an ID and everything lol. It's huge and a big part of the fan base for the "Redsux" apparently. We also have 2 options at entering Fenway for the games, we can enter a special RSN entrance ( which isn't a big deal, but it sounds good lol).

No, but the Red Sox are. So the "nation" label makes a little more sense for them...

The term "Nation" refers to having a fan base throughout the entire country. So that no matter what city they're in, there are fans of that particular team. This is similar to the Cowboys being called "Americas team" - because they have (had) fans everywhere.

I kinda dig that we are'nt popular outside texas. Who knows how were gonna respond when the Texans are in the playoffs this year and everyone is all over the bandwagon.
We've been such a small tribe since day one....it'll be weird, thats for sure.

I think we're still a few sexy players away from getting the national attention or fan base. It seems most ppl have an affinity for those outspoken players where as our team is filled w/ great players who are more hidden in the background...for example Andre Johnson, or DeMeco. Sure these guys are stars, but they just don't bring that love/hate relationship that most ppl outside of Houston love...for instance take a nut job like TO or Chad Johnson.
But I agree w/ most in that when we start winning, they will come around, but it doesn't matter to me either way.

Well we have a MNF game this year thats a big step to getting more national attention. I'm excited and its only one game, kind of like our NFL network broncos game last year. I hope we play as well on MNF as we did then.
That's going to be awesome game. I'm really looking forward to us destroying them next year. I just remember in our first game with them last year how they just kept on going for the 4th and 1 or 2 with no respect for our D. Course, they converted, but let's punch them back in the mouth this year...I hate the Jags.

I live in Southern California and I am a Texans fan. Let me say that last year at the Chargers, we were represented, not overwhelming, but it was a start.

As an old Oiler ticket holder, I can assure all that Bum and the boys had a lot of support in other cities, with their boots, cowboy hats and "bring it on" attitude. They started getting some props when they had a terrific game on MNF with all the Luv Ya Blue pom poms in evidence. The Tyler Rose as a rookie going 200 yards on favored Miami and outrunning a safety after turning the corner also helped. This Texans team has better players and will start gaining fans with that Texas mistique in short order IMO.

That gives me an idea...
You mentioned the "Luv Ya Blue" pom poms, and anyone who is an NFL fan knows about the "Terrible Towel"... I think we need something to wave around that's different and ORIGINAL.... Something TEXANS would recognize!!!!
Who has some good ideas??
Does the NFL have rules about noisemakers? I would nominate the good ol' cowbell, but I don't think they are allowed...
