Ok, I use to love the guy at Colorado. And they used what...ZBS, implemented by...Gibbs.

Is it just me or do you smell the end of Green as the main back and Brown taking that role?

Yes, I have worried about him getting hurt. But, at the same time I recall everytime he was hurt...the Titans pushed him off the depth chart(no clue why). So, he really never got a fair shake in Tenny.

Is it me, or do others see this happening as well? Remember the beast in the ZBS at Colorado...

ut i wouldnt be surprised if chris brown endened up starting

Wouldn't surprise me either and then used Green to spell him. Kind of the reverse thought of what was originaly precieved as the starting role. That way Green stays healthier, but still provides his input and Brown doesn't get over used either. I thing Green needs the rest more than Brown does to stay healthy.

He was a BEAST as a Buffalo.I think the Titans ended up sitting him because they wanted to get White some reps(maybe he ticked off Jeff Fisher).

Yes, I think Kubiak exorcises the last of the Sherman influences. Green doesn't make it thru the end of training camp.

Pretty confident Green makes the roster, unless the injury bug strikes him again.

Brown > Green

Green is old, Brown isn't. They're both about the same player but I expect Brown to have plenty of gas left in the tank. But I'm afraid that Green might just get injured again.

Another reason I asked, I have a feeling Green still is not 100%. I haven't really seen anything about him being healthy during the whole off season so far.

Green, Brown and Taylor all are coming off knee injuries. Who knows how any of them will respond. Kubs is smart, he will make the right choice. Green is older but he is strong and ready for the challenge.

If his knee isn't gone already. Nobody has said what the knee problem really is.

The lack of information has me worried, if you remember Dominick also had a mysterious knee injury that ended his career.

Back to the situation at hand... I really think RB is going to be one of the most interesting battles to watch in TC.

Brown is going to be motivated trying to prove he is what a lot people thought he will be and in a scheme that plays to his strengths.

Taylor showed flashes of brilliance when he was healthy.

Slayton can fake people out of their shoes in the open, but can he learn to run up the middle?

Green is proven, but what's still in the tank?

Darius Walker is quick and sure handed and should be able to squirt though the holes a ZBS opens up. (He also had the longest run last year.)

Put any one of these guys behind a Gibbs line and I think we could have one of the most respected running games by the end of the season.

i think brown has more left in the tank than green does! by the end of camp brown will be the starter and green will be the backup. that way green stays fresher longer i hope?

I don't think it matters who starts... not like in the old days... I think this will be RB by committee... I don't think you're going to put one guy in and let the other RB's go to sleep. In some games it may be that you have two different RB's in the first 3 plays... and then there are injuries... and we know all to well about them. I wonder more who the committee will be... Brown, Slaton, Taylor...

Brown, Walker, Slaton(3rd down)

Taylor makes the team as a FB or PS at best. Gibbs has said good stuff on everyone...not heard a word about Taylor.

Watch the mini camp videos. Green says he's fine and there is no indication that his knee is still bothering him.

Like when the Oilers had Rozier, Highsmith, White and Pinkett.

1 problem...we have Taylor, Brown, Green, Walker and Slaton(slated to be a 3rd down back). I do not see us hanging onto 5RBs.

Taylor- Unproven, coming off knee injury, fumbleitis

Brown- Proven when healthy, knows Gibbs system

Green- Great when healthy, coming off injury(unkown type) except knee

Walker- Proved he can play last year, good hands coming out of the BF

Slaton- Young, fast, smallish

Starter: Brown
Back up: Walker
3rd Down/situational: Slaton

Green is the X factor if healthy, I see him starting and Brown spelling him. Walker and Slaton then both become situatinal or 3rd down backs in 08. 09, if we keep Brown, he starts with Walker and Slaton backing him up...if not Walker or Slaton start.

I don't see how Taylor can show Mr Gibbs enough to hang on unless it's PS. And I dare not say due to____________he plays.

Green goes into TC as the starter, but by week one here is our RB line-up:

Starter - Brown
3rd Down Back - Slaton
Sitting and Bench - Green (nagging injury) Walker (still waiting for another chance)

Personally I think Brown is the man, but I really don't care who it is as long as we can finally have a notable running game.

Ratational: Green & Brown on 1st & 2nd, Slaton on 3rd downs, if needed.

It all depends on how Chris Taylor comes around. He could change the equation all together.

Brown will start or split with Green(if he plays), it is a given Slaton is the 3rd down back. Walker should be in seeing Gibbs will not take fumbles. But, we will have to see.

Much was made about Brown getting reps at left tackle. Who was getting the first team reps at running back this past weekend?

You know I was thinking about Ron Dayne and Darius Walker and how they broke off some pretty big runs. Then I thought to myself that if Chris Brown ever got that kind of run he most likely would've broke it for a TD.

I'm getting excited about our run game.

green had a bruised knee last year. he tried to rush and come back b4 it full healed and reinjured it again. during the bye week last year, green went to see the famed doctor in alabama, the same doctor that performed dunta's knee surgery. the doctor informed green that there are no tears or anything broken in his knee. he said that green has a badly bruised knee that needs nothing but rest to heal. he said it may linger for a while but needs rest to heal properly and at that point, he was placed on IR. i think he has had enough time to heal and should be at 100% by training camp, if not already. in other words, you guys can stop dreaming and acknowledge that green will be starting come week one unless he is hurt again. why you think he wasnt released or cut so far. i am pretty sure that if our front office thinks green cannot make it, he woulda been gone by now. i think ahman green will rush for 1000+ yards this season and shut all you skeptics up. a lotta of posts i read today have had people calling for brown, walker, taylor or slaton to start, and green to be cut. a lotta you guys dont understand what is expected of a starter in the scheme we run. its not just abouit running the ball, you have to be able to catch outta the backfield, run screens and most inportant of all, block and pick up blitzes. out of all the back we have in our stable, ahman green is the only one that has all it takes to be a starter.

First letters of your user name are gree, using words like we. Ahman, is this you? If so, we love you man. We really do. Please don't get upset if we just want to see you play when we have alot riding on you. We know that if there is anyone who can do it, its you. However, if pissing you off turns out 1,000 yards from you, then by all means we think that Stacy Mack will make a come back and take your J.

Ahman! I hear ya man. It's your job to lose bro. A healthy Ahman only means great things for the Texans.

i think the starting RB is really up in the air at this point...green still has to prove he still has it in him...brown has to prove he can stay healthy long enough to matter...taylor, walker, slaton, and beach have to prove they belong in the NFL...so IMO we don't have a clear cut starter

i guess i am busted! sorry guys but i cant understand why you guys would give up on me so soon. i was thinking you guys would appreciate the effort and commitment i put towards this team and even tried to play through injury. by doing that, i made it worse and rather than your support, you guys are calling for my head. my knee hurt but that hurt even more. one more chance is all i am asking for and i promise, i will run through any defender to get to 1000 yrds next season. thanks for your support in advance. yours truly.........ahman greedimidi!

I see the Texans keeping 4 RBs and 1 FB. I predict the odd man out will be the guy who get injured in TC or has not recovered from his injury last season (i.e. Green or Taylor). Green is the starter going in but we'll see how he responds in camp my bet is he is fine. It is also possible someone gets traded to another team when their RB goes down. We have some value at this position.

Green
Brown
Walker or Taylor
Slaton

I for one am very happy to have both Green and Brown on this team. Even if injuries are inevitable, which I am more inclined to believe that's more with Brown than Green anyway, I still expect to get at at least half a season of a running game that other teams don't want to have to face out of each of them. I think our overall running game could be the best we've since Earl Campbell. Not THAT good, of course, but the best since then.

you know what...even though our backs are not the biggest name guys in the league that doesn't mean we have a weak group...we just don't have that clear cut number one guy...personally i think chris brown probably fits the zone blocking scheme the best...his talents are best suited for the scheme and he has already had huge success with it...but keep in mind that chris taylor is a guy who is probably got the biggest chip on his shoulder and might surprise everyone including the coaching staff...darius walker looked good in spot time last year and slaton has the ability to be a good player in this league...i admitt i don't know much about beach...he could be a surprise kid...and let's not forget about the pencilled in starter green...out of all of these guys he is the only one i think can be consistantly counted on to block for schaub during pass plays and is the only one i consider to be ready to carry the load for the team...i love his ability to make plays on screen passes and i love the leadership he brings

there isn't an offensive backfield in the league i think that is as competitive as ours is from top to bottom...time will tell if that's a blessing or a curse
