I don't think there's anyone on this board who can seriously say they question the ability of our coaching staff.
Here's an excellent article by Solomon on Jethro Franklin. We all talk about someone in Mario's ear driving him....well there ya go.

My favorite quote.....""You love it on Sundays when they play hard and make plays, but that doesn't happen overnight. That comes with a lot of tough love and a lot of foot-in-the-butt,"

Franklin is a throw back. Nasty. He makes you hate him but you love to please him. This kind of coach makes you angry and go out and take it out on the opponent.
O-Line and D-Line is where you develope the character and identity of a football team. Franklin and Gibbs are the perfect coaches for that.

The same could be said of Vince Lambardi, Tom Landry and Chuck Knoll. Not bad company.

jethro is a top notch coach...his ability to get after his players and motivate them to the best of their abilities are setting the tone for this team...can't wait to see how the development of players like okoye, tj, mario "the beast" williams, and okam continues
Jethro didn't seem pleased with the way that article came across:
Brooke Bentley: There recently was a column about you in the Houston Chronicle, saying you have a love-hate relationship with your players. Do you think that is an accurate representation?
Jethro Franklin: No, it was too bad that came out that way. Everything I do is about the love of the game and loving the guys that I coach, and they know that. Even though the article wasn’t a good article for me in terms of how I feel toward the guys that I work with, what’s most important is that the guys that I work with understand what I’m all about. They understand the love that I have for them and the love that I have for this game and the respect that I have for them and the respect I have for the game. They know at the end of the day everything we try to do for them is for them to get better and to become better football players, better citizens and better men.

yeah I think the only part he wasn't happy with was the hate part of it. It was lightly implied that the players don't like him at times but that's not the way I took it.
Many great coaches will intimidate their pupils at times but usually they will tell you that it only pushes them to perform better. I think our players will tell you the same thing, Franklin can be very intense but it's only to get the best out of his players. Personally I used to love coaches like that.
