If he and RGM make the squad, doesn't that make someone an odd man out? I guess the more competition the better.

I like what i see too. It does seem he gets caught from behind on a few of those carries, wonder if thats before or after the ACL. Seems too short and slow to be a premier WR in the NFL but perhaps a good 3rd down possesion reciever or maybe scat back. But then we have Slayton for that.

I like what I see, and he is from THE U and all the WR's that come out seem to do well. Not EVERYONE of them, but most...wonder if AJ may know the kid?

The kid's fearless, I will give him that but he needs some serious polishing to succeed at the pro level! The route he ran at the 4:40 mark  in that video almost made me fall out of my chair! He might get a TD on that one thoug because the corners in the league would fall on their keisters laughing at a route like that.

I am interested in seeing how he qand RGM do in training camp. One thing is for sure... our passing game has TONS of talent and it feels great!

yeah kinda off the subject, anyone know what happened to derrick armstrong, i remember he was a player who i thought would become a good reciever for us, had great hands.

He is back in the CFL with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Jenkins looks to have more upside than JJ Mosses and Armstrong put together.

i hope the JJ in your quote is not short for jacoby jones? if it is, you are way off. darnell jenkins has more upside that jacoby jones? you would be saying that an undrafted free agent has more upside than a 3rd round pick in his 2nd year.

What about Avion Black? Or Jamal Lewis for that matter? Since we are bringing up old names.

Tore his ACL in college and got a medical redshirt. That might had a little to do with it....

Here is a link to his bio...

Too bad he doesn't have a little more weight on him, I would like to see what he could do in the backfield in the ZBS... This kid looks fast as all hades. Maybe use him on reverses and stuff...

It wasn't a torn ACL, thats an error by the UM Football Relations Department. When he went to the Combine he had an MRI on both knees (as they do medical tests there) and both knees checked out perfectly.

He ran a 4.45 at his Pro Day at UM. Teams do put a lot of emphasis on these 40 yard dash times. One scout said it best when he said how some players run a 4.3 on a track at their pro days but the NFL doesn't play football on a track. If you really want to see how fast Darnell is the 97 Yard touchdown vs. North Carolina (which was on that youtube clip) he was clocked at about 6.6 on that entire run. He had the DB by about 20 yards by the time he hit the endzone.

JJ Moses is not Jacoby Jones. JJ Moses was a returner who's greatest upside, when playing for us anyway, was that he rarely fumbled. I think his average was good, too; but no break-away speed.

I watched that whole video...He's deadly against man coverage and I could see defences trying to contain him the best they could.

More depth, more play making competition. This is a steal. I totally agree.

I doubt we carry 6 WR on the active squad...5 tops. I have a feeling whoever is better at returning kicks makes the team. I tend to be biased towards players from the U.

Special teams play will probably be the deciding factor, but it won't be who's the better return man. It will be who is the better guy at flying down the field and making tackles on punts and kickoffs, and who is better at blocking for Jacoby Jones on punts and Andre Davis on kickoffs.

For the borderline roster spots, it is how they block and tackle on special teams that make the difference.

How is he looking in TC?

Running over and knocking down Kris Brown during punting drills this morning sure didn't make the coaches happy. Although Brown took a minute to get up, it looked like he was more surprised than anything, didn't look to be hurt.

From the video ...my oservations.

Gutsy player. Goes over middle and goes high for the ball.
Fights for extra yards every time.
Very athletic.
Shows heart and no show boating after catch.
---------------------------------------
Bad stuff
He likes to try to change direction against the flow of the play a lot. And tends to lose a few yards. But to his credit...a lot of times he used that and was able to have success , but in the NFL, it's better to get what you can get 99 times out of 100. And not try to change direction on a play.

---------------------------------
But overall he has got moxy. He could be a Texan. I'll let Kubiak decide.

Last I know he plays for the Austin Wranglers. (AFL) That was a couple season's ago, for the one & only Wranglers game I ever went to!
