Last night I met Joe Montana, yes that Joe Montana. He spoke at a dinner event for a conference I am attending in San Francisco. So I had the opportunity to talk a little football during the cocktail social with Joe for about 5 minutes.

I asked him if he had an opinion about the direction Houston was headed. He said he does not know Kubiak very well but talks to Steve (Young) quite a bit and Steve raves about Kubiak. However, he did say he thinks Houston's WR corps is probably in the top 5 in the league.

The best part was that there were some Cow Pattie fans at the dinner event too. He ragged on them (in good humored way) through out his speech. I was loving it. "Dallas fans we did not have one pick play in the playbook. That would have been illegal. But we had lots of rubbing plays. You can call it a pick if you want but it wasn't a pick. It was a rub." He told some pretty funny stories.

Good story man. It's not often you get to pick the brain of a Hall of Famer.

Great story yes, but top 5 WR corps? Beyond AJ and maybe Davis, we have a bunch of role players right now.

You may consider them role players but they can seriously produce. AD can up with some spectacular catches last year, as well as proving himself one of hte league's top deep threats.

Walter proved that he can get deep as well as be a good route runner and a solid no. 2.

AJ is AJ.

Jacoby Jones pre injury was something to see, we'll see if he bounces back.

I think togehter they are top 5.

Pretty much, outside of the Patriots and Colts, I can't think of any other team to have as much depth as the Texans do in recievers. Not to mention Owen Daniels is beastly, so us being top 5 makes sense to me.

When evaluating receiving corps it is difficult to do so. A majority of the teams use 2 receiver sets for a majority of the snaps so you really need to weigh that when evaluating. For example, say the Andres are our top two receivers. Now the fact that I like Kevin Walter and Jacoby Jones better than anyone Cincinatti has at three and four mean we have a better receiving corp. I wouldn't say so I would say Ocho, this is a football talent viewpoint not really looking at character, and TJ make up for the difference. Of course this works in our favor against some teams. When compared to Pittsburg, AJ is so much better than anyone they have that the fact that I like Santonio more so than AD doesn't make them better. I think at depth we are about the same as Pitt, and this was assuming Hines is their 1. When weighing it this way we end up at 10. Indy, San Diego, Cincy, NE, Dallas, Giants, Arizona, Detroit, Green Bay I had ahead of us. Also I figure Cleveland is a wash.

we have a better group of wide receivers than dallas, san diego and the giants in my opinion.

If Anquan Bouldin goes back to the Cards (iffy right now but I'm going to assume the Cardinals will work something out for now), then you'd have to consider them a Top 5 group, too. Pats and Colts (1 and 2) are pretty much a given. The Rams are older now so they probably fall out of the Top 5 at this point. And I'm going to knock the Bengals out because it looks like there's no Chad Johnson, which makes it irrelevant.

The Browns are one more reliable receiver away from being a Top 5 group, too (IMO).

The Saints throw the ball around a lot but outside of Colston, there's really no "guy" at wideout.

1. New England
2. Indianapolis
3. Arizona
4. Houston
5. Green Bay
6. Dallas
7. Cleveland
8. New Orleans
9. Pittsburgh
10. NY Giants

Well that is kind of funny because Steve Young always disses the Texans any chance he gets when he is a commentator for the Network he works for. I find that one hard to believe. Emmit Smith was the only one who backed us up and Steve young just laughed at him. I do remember that.

I saw the NFLN show that listed top 10 receiving corps in NFL history. The Houston Oiler Fab 4 didn't even make the list. They, mentioned them but didn't make the list???? I would put up those guys against anyone they mentioned.
