Man, I love this coach and FO. The attitude seems to be light years away from what we had with the previous regime. Check his quote on Schaub from the Chronicle:
"It's really been, I don't want to use the word easy, but it's been a nice transition because a lot of the things we do and the way we talk Matt's done that. And I knew that before we even brought him here, so that's helped make things a little easier."
Kubes didn't just go Iceberg Slim on DC, but an unmistakable affirmation of Schaub's talent and drive. Kid's often been the first to Reliant and the last to leave for the past 6 weeks - WAY more than we could say for his predecessor.
OTA today, baby!

This little quote from Kubiak caught my eye. I don't know how other people read into it, but to me it says he's already opening the playbook more than last year.
Kubiak said. “We’ve actually expanded, moved on to some of the things we want to do as coaches so we’re asking a lot of him mentally now.

Sounds to me our old guy had problems comprehending what he was being told.

I liked the part in the video where he said that they still have to get on the field and see for sure and that if he (Matt) asks them to slow down, they'll slow down and if he asks them to speed up, they'll speed up.
He sounded really, really happy though.

Man. Both Rick and Kubes threw down the gauntlet for the receivers. Both of them mentioned the WR as the position they're really concentrating on as a position to upgrade.

Dude! It's a quote directly from Kubiak. What does it have to do with us? Why are you even here? Everybody here knows how you adore Carr. Why don't you and the other stalkers LEAVE.

It's been a lot less than a year since you've heard that. Or haven't you been reading people's posts?
The difference is that this time it's Kubiak saying it.

Jeez dude, are we NOT allowed to compare our new QB to our old one?? I'm getting really tired of the homers trying to undermine our enthusiasm because they can't get over their man crush.
Let me break it down this way. I myself happen to know quite a bit about football, and others on this board know even more. So when we point out the flaws of our former players and compare them to our new ones it's probably because we know what we are talking about.
Sorry about that, now back to the point. Kubes isn't going to come out and go "Iceberg Slim" (LMAO) on DC because he's professional about it....but he does leave it to the listener to read between the lines. In the radio interview on 610 he seemed pretty geeked when talking about Schaub's leadership on and off the field. That's important to note because it seems to be a quality that he likes and hasn't seen much of from the QB position here. Say what you want caddy but your boy DC didn't seem to impress our coach very much and our new guy can't get enough of his praises. I trust Kubes.

Relax guys, i'm excited about our upcoming season too, but i think all caddy was trying to say is you guys maybe reaching for things that say he's going to be great here.
He has to feel that way, or at least project it, it's "his" guy. & if you remember, on NFL network this time last year, he was on TV basically saying similar things about DC. talking to his other coaches " Boy, david seems to be soaking everything up like a sponge today...." & things to that effect. plus we all know & have heard that DC looked better in practice than in the games, so lets just relax & wait until we see the guy in games.

Well, I'll tell you, maybe we are reaching but hearing this from Kubiak makes me feel a lot better than the quote from last year's Peter King article where Kubiak was yelling at Carr and asking him how a vet makes that bad read/throw.

Kubiak has never once said that david carr ever gave less then 100%. That was never the problem, the problem was that carr had no leadership qualities and kubiak had to dumb up the play book because he couldn't trust david carr ability under pressure.

I'll just be a little off topic and go to say Kevin Walter is gonna have a breakout year with Matt is the real deal.

Your are too funny dude... but I'm glad you asked me to leave. As this seems to be your idea that fans who won't lock step with you meager mind should have to go. Thanks for asking me to leave, I was starting to feel like I was going to be left-out.

To caddy and the original poster, I have to say I see your points, we have no more proof that schaub will make it than we did with carr, the big difference this year is, we know now that a lot of the problems with carr were his own, he had excellent skills athletically, but could not make reads under pressure and could not make quick decisions when the play started to break down. schaub in his short history has not shown any of those traits. and is still young and trainable, I believe that is the main reason most are optimistic. some of course are only optimistic because it's not david carr, ie the haters. I won't try to speak for them. there is no doubt all of us are hopeful, but we will all have to wait and see how it plays out, including kubiak. I feel positive, and will hope for the best, as I think we all should. I feel sorry for david, I liked him, I thought he had a lot of potential, but that's all past us now, he's not a Texan anymore, and I wish him all the luck. but now my focus has to be on our present QB, and I wish Schaub the best. Go Texans!

I don't think that everyone who is optimistic just because it's not Carr is a hater. I was pulling for Carr even going into last season, but by midseason I had lost all confidence in him and his ability to be a starting QB. I never hated him, though, I just saw a lack of ability after so many years of getting pounded, both mentally and physically.

I think you kinda took me outa context, I never said all were haters, but my point was, there are many people that wanted a new QB and were optimistic for different reasons.

Hey, I'm so happy your all that and a mile wide. Read between all the lines you want... But most important trust Kubes. Because last year's song was all about David... Now, you see how long that lasted. Even up to the third game he was compairing David to some of the best QB's he's ever worked with. So now his song is about a maybe guy... well your beat the drum for the Schaubie. I'll take the wait and see for myself and not follow the kubes sales job. Hope the running game is what you want to see, as you won't see the passing game that was the Texans game. The defence and running backs are going to the key to the Kubes era. But I'm sure you already knew that... being a 610 listener
