I am so tired of all the sports casters on espn, and the nfl network dogging the texans for passing up on reggie and vince.ok so ya i was a little pissed at the moment but i have gotten over that.there gone and with other teams, So why can't they(sports casters) give it a rest. i believe the texans relized they screwed up, thats why we have a new general manager now. i think we have made some good changes this year and we will continue to better the team as years go by.first and foemost i beleve it all started when we hired dom capers as the head coach.he didn't get the players that he had when he started the panthers. capors is a good d-coach but that is all. but that didn't even show up here in houston.so now we have a new coach a new qb and a better overall team. I just wish we would here some good things from some of these critics, or maybe i just allways here from the wrong ones. on the other hand i can see that know matter what happens i guess i will allways just be a homer. so give me some thoughts on this topic. am i just barking up the wrong tree or do i need to shut-up and pay more attention.[:#]

They'll continue to do it as long Mario doesn't make them shut up. If mario does that then they won't be talking about it anymore.

Well said. I hope Mario does something this year.

i dont think the management view bush or young as a mistake. bushwouldnt have fit are system, we had no back to carry the load to allowreggie to be reggie. reggie wasnt the answer not matter how muchESPN wanted it to be. i also belive kubes thought vince wasnt theguy he wanted running his offense. no offense to vince, but atthis point in his career. he can read a defense about as well as carrcan. not a knock on vince, but he is a pretty new to the NFL QBposition. kubes want to win now, not in a few years. if we hadtaken vince we would have been waiting a few years for him tomature.

I am so tired of people whining that we deserve positive attention when on the field play is what gets you positive attention.

And for the record, there has been positive attention cast upon the Texans and favorable opinions from many sources about the draft, comings and goings, the problem is, no one pays attention to the positive, they only react when negative.

You need to shut up and pay more attention, as you say. Just bear in mind this is a 6-10 team with a lot of changes and a super young defense.... until they win, I wouldn't expect any respect.

I havne't heard you say anything nice about the Kansas City Royals recently.

I think that this is a deal that will be talked about for as long as Young, Bush and Williams are in the league. If Williams starts to excel and the others falter then they will say "in the beginning". If Young continues to excel and Williams does not then we get more of last year, if all three excel then you will get some conversation about which you would pick for your team type of stuff.

So my guess is that we will hear about this stuff for the next ten years. Let's hope that we do not hear about what could of been and instead hear about what is and how good it is. Time will tell but rest assured it is not going away.

The Royals rock, dude!!!

...even though I have no idea what their record is or who plays on that team.

Perhaps you need to spend more time reading the threads on this message board. There's been plenty of discussion about the positive attention.
And what in the world do the Royals have to do with the Texans??

well coach, we are "victims" of the "pre-ordained storyline". ESPN's talking heads had decreed that either Prince Vince or Reggie-the-Magnificent were the no-brainer picks for the Texans in 06. That was the "pre-ordained storyline" of the 2006 draft. They were all set to say, "We knew they'd pick VY or RB; we're ESPN and we know these things, you stupid fans. Just keep tuning in and you'll be fine." And if you don't believe in the "pre-ordained storyline" tell me why NFL Live always leads off with something involving Michael Vick, Tank Johnson, or T.O. I'm tired of them, aren't you? They don't care. The pre-ordained storyline rules.
So if you don't believe those arrogant (Bristol) Connecticut yankees actually think that, explain those "don't talk sports out of your ___, listen to ESPN News and be smart" commercials to me. It boils down to this: "Think like us and be cool or think independently and get ridiculed (i.e., be stupid)." Psychology 101, coach.
But, Lawd have mercy, them danged Texans went against ESPN's infinite East Coast wisdom. And for that transgression, we will have to suffer their little digs from now until Hell freezes over or until we kick both Vince and Reggie teams' behinds on our way to the playoffs.
Thank goodness for Michael Smith. At least he does his homework.
I'm off my soapbox
......for now.

The Royals put together a good club with some nice players, but never have a winning record... um, sound familiar? They won't get any respect until they win something and you don't hear the media talking about them positively (minor league system for Yankees and Angels, etc.).

Unfortunately, the Texans at this point aren't much better than the Royals, but is probably more analogous to the Devil Rays.

The moral of the story for those that can't connect the dots...
"It isn't a personal grudge against the Texans when they don't get positive coverage. They haven't done anything on the field to deserve it and the Royals are an example of a similar franchise that goes through the same thing the Texans do."

I really wish the VY played for Green Bay instead of in our division.I like the guy as a person and a player.I just hate having to play him two times a year and hearing the titan fans run their mouths. He is gonna have some trouble with our YOUNG defense this year (I think the Colts will have problems with us also!).

The worst part is that if Vince and Reggie have terrible years and Mario has 50 sacks, most of the media will say "Houston got away with a stupid decision."
