Right now which player is the face of the Houston Texans? Is it Matt Schaub? Is it DeMeco Ryans? Is it Andre Johnson? Is it Dunte Robinson? Or is it Mario Williams?
Personally I think its Mario Williams. Maybe its a little bit of bias, but I really want it to be Mario Williams. Kind of the same way you look at Carolina. When you think of the Carolina Panthers you think of either Steve Smith or Julius Peppers. Hopefully thats what people will think of after this season when Mario racks up 10+ sacks, 70 tackles and 15 tackles for loss with 4 forced fumbles and makes his way to Hawaii before Reggie Bush does. Maybe its Andre Johnson, or it least he is the face of the Texans' offense.
Anyway i'm so **** excited to see Mario in his sophmore year I can barely wait. Even if we don't make the playoffs this year I'll be very pleased if our stars shine and make great progress.

IMO, I think this guy's the face of the franchise.

yep...I've always had an issue with the franchise FORCING the "face" of the franchise on us without proving himself on the field. The "face" of your franchise should be your most dynamic player...the "difference maker" on your team. Right now, we have some very good players in Andre Johnson and Demeco Ryans....those two guys are pretty much our "difference makers" and everyone else is on spec....like they should be (I'd love Mario to be...but he has to dominate on the field first)

I don't think we necessarily need a face for the franchise. I listen to all of the hyperbole around this message board about bieng a fan of the team not a player.
I think if you hang your hat on one guy it better be the proven thing, and there are really only two guys that have that acomplishment thus far, AJ and DeMeco. As you say if Mario has a bust out year, then he can be the man. All I want to see this year is this team come together and show unity and pride in one another. Once we get a season under our belts without DC, I think that sports analyst will have to start talking about the positives in respect to the Texans.

Agreed, but like I said I am a little bit one sided here. I guess its more of hope than anything that Mario Williams can be awesome this year and shut all the naysayers up for good. That would make my year, no kidding. But as of now it probably is Johnson and on defense it may be Ryans. I would love it to be sort of tag team thing with Williams and Okoye.

Recognized as the best WR in the NFL, A.J. is the "face' right now. This season will determine if that changes.
Candidates:
Schuab
Williams
Ryans

Well, Mario and Andre are the most well known players on the team, so it would have to be one of them.

Andre Johnson is not the face of the franchise because of what i think is his best attribute. His quiet demeanor.
I think the face of our franchise right now is Dunta. However I think it will eventually be Schaub.

DUDE did you just say DUNTA. So if I am in Milwaukee, Minnesota, or Portland, I strike up a conversation with fellow locals and the first name they utter is DUNTA? Man are you drinking new orleans flood water? I think the face of the Texans is Vince Young

I guess right now it's AJ, as he's one of the only guys that most casual fans have heard of and he's our only multi-time Pro Bowler. But hopefully after this season it's Schaub because of some impressive play.

Im just telling you who I see getting vocal and the media gathering around at THIS point.
Andre is very quiet off the firld and really doesn't get the face time. everytime there is an interview about the state of the texans it was always David Carr, and Dunta Robinson who were quoted or spoke out. Of those two Dunta is the only one still in a texans uniform. I don't give the face of the franchise to the best player. I give it to the person that I hear from most who people quote the most in the lockerroom.
Vince Young should be face of "The Wonderlic Test For Dummies" book.

I understand your point about vocal but using that logic, does that make Owens the face of the Cowboys, Porter the former face of the steelers, Moss the face of the Patriots. Just because you have a mouth arrrrrrrh MEDIA HOUND it does not make you the face. Yea Yea Dunta made a few comments but nothing that would elevate him to mr TEXAN. Seriously speaking, I think our team has no face since David Carr left, but I think someone will have a breakout season in terms of on the field production and savvy with the media. I can potentially see a scenario wrap up like this, jacoby whens the 3rd wr spot and catapult like Colston, Schaub become like a Hybrid of Elway/Montana/Moon, or Ahman Green run like he has just been released from prison. By the 6 or 7th game or a win over Tennesse we will have a face to put with this team.

LETS GO TEXANS

Lamont Ill agree more with we currently have no face, but the fact I had to pick one that is how I made my choice.
Porter was the face of the steelers in My eyes while he was there.
Moss was the face of the Raiders in my eyes.

Two Pro Bowls in 4 years. The face is Andre Johnson but Demeco is the guy who is in the background of the picture.

Screw vy and all his worshippers. Everyone harps and harps about how he made the Pro Bowl but who caught the only pass from vy that even made him look good? A.J., that's who. Other than that vy just threw dump passes.
Besides, you can't discuss vy with anyone without bringing up Mario. In that case, Mario would be the face of the franchise. But I still say it is A.J.

LOL man go take anger management.

Bob McNair is the face of the franchise for me.[:P]
In seriousness, whoever helps us win the most amount of games will become the face of the franchise.

Alright, if you're thinking face of the franchise, think of a nationally televised TV commercial previewing a game. Think of seeing a commercial that says "Come see if Carlos Boozer and the Jazz can hang with Tim Duncan and the Spurs." In my mind, I see the commercial saying Mario. Maybe Andre.
