The team has officially announced the signing of rookies Antwaun Molden, Steve Slaton and Frank Okam, confirming earlier posts on this board and from various media outlets.
And, to confirm BattleRedNation's post, Charles Spencer has been released along with fullback Jon Abbate and defensive tackle Eric Powell.
Our Brooke Bentley caught up with an elated Slaton and Okam (http://www.houstontexans.com/news/Story.asp?story_id=4414) following their signings.

I saw that, but all I expect but the release of Spencer. I figured we would keep most/all OL players into camp. Gibbs may like one who seems borderline right now.

Kind of suprised to see Abbate go, but I guess that is what we have Jameel Cook for, ha.

Thanks for the confirmation Nick. The waivers were a must, although I hate to see those guys go, especially Spencer, the talent pool is now at a level where we can't move forward with mediocrity. The TC cuts are going to be hard enough so the front office had to make these moves.

It's a huge let down to see Spencer go. His very short career started off great then was destroyed immediately, early. We just oculdn't affort to gamble on him taking a roster spot when there are guaranteed performers that can have his spot.

Was hoping so much that Spencer would be ok. He will be missed and good luck to him down the road.

It ain't easy being a team on the rise. One of the downsides of being a winner ( to be).

As Kubiak and Smith said at the end of OTAs, this was going to be a really difficult decision. Everyone in Reliant Stadium respects Spencer as a person and for how much resiliency he's shown in fighting to come back from that awful injury. And it's no secret how impressive of a player Spencer was in his sparse healthy minutes as a pro.
But Spencer has such a great attitude that I have a feeling that everything will work out for him, whether it be in football or a new career.

I just hope he gets healthy and plays for a NON-divisional opponent.

I think Spencer is more of a "stand your ground" type lineman vs. a ZBS "go gettem" type player. If he can get back to near 100% I still think he has a good chance at a career with some team next year. With the talent he showed early I am sorry it's not us. On the bright side, the fact they are not willing to wait on him makes me think the coaches have a lot of faith in the linemen we still have.

HEY TEXANS FANS, CHECK THIS ARTICLE OUT:
http://www.chron.com/disp/story.mpl/sports/fb/texansfront/5904142.html
There is an article up on Charles Spencer signing with the Carolina Panthers.
I wish Charles Spencer all the best. He showed trremendous character, and positive hard work and determination in rehabbing his career threatening tibial plateau injury. What a classy guy, and he never acted like a victim throughout his whole ordeal.
I wish Spencer all the best.
