Man, this is under 3/4 a mill for a signing bonus and hasn't played one game day down or even one day in a NFL training camp. (A LOT CHEAPER THAN OLE REGGIE BUSH !)

Looks like a little over a million guaranteed. Yep. Seems pretty much in-line with a typical third rounder.

Just imagine if he plays better than him.

"You can keep Bush New Orleans. We'll be just fine with Slaton!"

I like that sentence... but I am fine with us not having reggie even if Slaton does not pull in better stats. For a 3rd down back you do not need a superstar. Slaton should be just fine for that roll and reggie gets overpaid to try and be an everydown back. :)

Yeah, and in case you didn't hear, the Saints arent using Bush as an everydown back, HE WILL ALSO BE A THIRD DOWN BACK!!!

Which means he is being overpaid for doing even less, which is what I was getting at. I read back over it and I guess it wa snot very clear the way I typed it. My jokes suck most of the time anyway. :p

It sure is nice to have a FO now that does not throw money away. It sounds like a typical contract for his draft position.

No kidding... and it shows a little financial responsibility. The Saints are screwed... too much investment in ESPN ratings toward generating offense and NO DEFENSE. But then New Orleans needs "flash" in part, to be "New Orleans" and keep post Katrina interest high.

I can see the next Madden Commercials with Steve Slaton thanking the Saints for taking Reggie.

"Dear Rookies,

When the Texans didn't take Bush with the number 1 pick, I was pretty shocked. But a year later, after the Texans picked yours truly, we brought the city of Houston its first ever playoff spot. So I'd like to take this opportunity to say something to the Texans for not giving into the hype and taking the 'chosen one': Thanks ;)"

Get it made EA!

i dont know how any1 could ever think that was a bad contract....considering the average carpenter who works his *** off 5/6 days a week for under 1000$ or how about the president of the UNITED STATES who only gets 250,000$......ya know they used to play this game for the FUN of it, just to be apart of a team..... now its all about who can be the 1st football player to get a 200 million contract for 2 years:(

Give me a break! These guys are highly specialized athletes who have been working for free for years and years. Why don't you talk about the owners and executives and what they make? The networks, sponsors and owners all bank off of the players...they should not have to feel bad about getting theirs.

Old time players played for love of the game, but they also played for money, as much as they could get. Early on, there wasn't a lot to go around. Thanks to television, millions are available. The players should get their share. They often wind up hurt and shortchanged, and their careers are short, for the most part. I think more should go into payments for the old timers who didn't get to cash in and are now sometimes physically handicapped with football related conditions.
