Wasn't he just signed? I thought that was what was on 610's sports flash a few min ago, or was is another Brown??

I've already said who I want signed for sure on this board many times. Molden, Slaton, Okam and others were great news, but if there is any rookie I would love to have making a good impact on the field, it would have to be Brown. At least getting him a year under his belt and perhaps starting that last few games if he isn't coming along as quick.

Eh - he'll sign soon. He has no reason to hold out - he wasn't that high a pick.

Chris Williams LT from Vanderbilt just signed with the bears.

five-year, $16 million contract that included a little less than $10 million in guarantees.

Cherilus also signed. The mid-to-late first round tackles are flying into contract-dom. Duane should be soon to follow.

Antoine Cason just signed. That should help tighten up the slot and possibly jiggle things loose overnight.

Hey thats cool, b/c the longer it takes to sign him the more of these threads we can get.

Seriously. What is it with people like you? The message board police guys. I just don't get it. A need to try to be an authority figure? Latchkey kid? Bullied as a child? Feelings of inadequacy? (I lean towards the latter.)

Whatever the case may be, I hope that one day you, and those like you, GET OVER YOURSELVES. (But who am I fooling....)

After an all-night negotiating session, the Texans have avoided the second official holdout in franchise history.

Left tackle Duane Brown, the first-round draft choice, agreed to a five-year, $11.5 million contract early today. If he signs in time to make the morning practice, Brown won't be an official holdout.

Defensive tackle Travis Johnson missed a day in 2005 when he was the first pick to become the team's only holdout. General manager Rick Smith and agents Ken Landphere and Andy Ross negotiated through the night to get the deal done so Brown, who played at Virginia Tech, in training camp on time.

As soon as he arrived in Houston, Brown, the 26th pick in the first round, was inserted into the starting left tackle job ahead of veteran Ephraim Salaam.

11.5 isn't bad for his draft position.

The 14th pick in the draft got 5 years 13 million, with 9 or 10 guaranteed.

In my personal opinion, it's always the lawyers holding up everything. They want to sweeten their cut. What kid gets drafted, coming from for the most part "meager means" won't sign the first offer they get to be in the "League" and make $$$ doing what they would do for free?

Great. I'm happy he got signed...but doesn't 11.5 sound a little steep?

If you consider that they have had time with him in OTAs, I am willing to bet that the amount they are paying him fits with what they have personally seen him doing during walk-throughs. If theya re willing to offer him a good chunk of change then that means he is probably filling in very nice right now!

Good sign in my opinion because they wouldn't be giving him this deal if he was a chump.
