Seems like an honest opinion with good research. Some of the things he spurts out kinda seems like bs to me. Any ways worth the read.

Dang! Downright depressing, but he does make his points. He is not biased, just cautious about the secondary and the brutal opening schedule. It is the view of an outsider. He left out the heart bestowed by the head coach. The Texans won't give up, and we will make the playoffs with the help of the home crowd.

The first 5 games: @PIT, BAL, @TEN, @JAX, IND. They could very well start 0-5 against that brutal start

I don't understand why so many analysts are still high on Baltimore? They won 6 games last year (I think), and gave the Dolphins their only victory. Granted they would have beaten the Patriots if their coaches hadn't called an untimely time-out, but still. This year they have a new coach, a defense with an average age of 102, and they can't even pick their starting QB like the Bears did because they can't find a 3 sided coin. :p

This is the only game out of our first 5 that I'm not worried about losing. I think the Ravens will be lucky to get back to 6 wins again this season.

I am really getting tired of this crap which seems to start off with the concept there is no reason to hope just because the running game and the pass defense sucked last year... so don't expect much from the press or the experts. That said, I have come to the conclusion that the Texans can not have "incremental improvement" and still expect to do anything in this division... the gap is just too big.

We are going to have to DEMONSTRATE revolutionary improvement and whether we like it or not, we are going to have to start with Pittsburg. Beat their ***... then you begin to have some comfort that we can compete with Indy and Jacksonville with the playoffs as an option.

Not to mention Bal. is our home opener. Were gonna kick their butt.;)

I see us beating them, Indy here at home and stealing one on the road. So that is 3-2 and I would be very happy with that at the least.

If we are 3-2, start saving you money for playoff tickets, I will be in whatever stadium the week-end of January 3-4th what ever city that may be.

Andre Johnson, "finally living up to his being the 3rd pick in the Draft"? This guy is nutty as a fruitcake! Outsider indeed, or just stupid.

I didn't realize Josh Brown was our kicker. Dude just lost some credibility in my book w/ that crap.

It pretty much seemed like almost a carbon copy of every other national publication's breakdown of the team. They never really give us any in depth information. I get that they have to cover all 32 teams, but there really isn't any pertinent information for a fan that follows the team closely

I would stick with stupid.

I can see the Texans going 2-3 though the first 5 pretty easily and possibly squeaking out another. I don't know who it would be, but it is possible. I don't see them losing to Baltimore or Tennessee.

That's my take.

As far as incremental improvements go, if both our offense and defense improve even by just a small amount, that can translate to a couple of more wins. Two more wins over last year should get us a playoff birth.

As far as the article goes, meh. He doesn't give our wideouts enough credit. Plus we all know that the injury bug played a major part in our season last year. Staying healthy and showing any amount of improvement is the key to our season this year.

I think Pittsburgh relying on an older Hines Ward and a rookie Limas Sweed, Willie Parker's injured leg and Rashard Mendenhall and an O-Line that lost a very key player could be a win as well.

I honestly believe if the texans can beat Pittsburgh in Pittsburgh that it should give them enough momentum to at least win the next 2. But opposing teams are starting to realize that the texans are a real football team they will not be taken lightly..........**** i'm ready for some football.

Well, he bases his final prediction on inaccurate information. He says:

"They went 2-7 in 2007 against teams with winning records, and the average score of those games was 34-19 and includes the finale against a JAX team that mailed it in quickly. That indicates they probably aren’t as close to being as good as many people suspect."

However, the Texans average score in games against teams with winning records was 23-31, in just the losses it was 20-33.

Guess since he didn't research it, he didn't think anyonelse would either.

There are somethings that I agree with in this article. This team has so many question marks that it is hard to see it having a winning record. We have the potential for either a boom or bust season. A few injuries in the secondary and we are doomed. The oline does not gel with Gibbs' system and we are in the basement again.

I am not nearly as high on Schaub as everyone else. He showed flashes of brilliance last year, but I am afraid that he is not durable. I want to be wrong on this. Neither do I think Sage is the answer. Sure Sage is more willing to take chances, but more often than not those end in interceptions.

He is right that it all depends on our start. We need to win at least two of these games. A 2-3 start can be overcome, but I think we will start 3-2. We can knock off any of these teams, but it will require some luck.

Last year we were an true 7-9 team. The sad part is that so much of our season depends on luck. We could go 10-6 or even 11-5 if our luck holds. I am going to remain the pessimist and say that at best we finish 6-10 or 7-9.
