I know many of ya'll won't be interested, but the Titans have a former Oilers on the coaching staff...temporarily at least. I told HeadSplint I would keep him updated on Titans training camp...sorry if i offended ya'll

Former Oiler lends a hand to Titans
By JIM WYATT • Staff Writer • July 28, 2008

Rayna Stewart remembers the tough times, when the Houston Oilers made the transition to the Tennessee Oilers, and finally the Titans.

So getting turned around in the hallways of the team’s MetroCenter complex doesn’t seem like much of a problem. Stewart, a former defensive back with the Oilers, is working with the Titans early in training camp as part of the NFL Minority Coaching Fellowship Program.

Here's some pictures of some of the guys...Vince, Lendale, and Haynes

On an injury note: one of the practice squad guys had what seems to be a major knee issue. The injury of note is what is thought to be a mildly pulled groin by Bironas. He left practice early as was Lendale for "personal issues"...GoTitans!

CJ has looked pretty nice...not too many pictures of him in any action. He's been fielding punts and kick returns. I'm not in Nashville, but judging by the papers, most of the RB duties have been Lendale's.

Coach Fish said he's amazed at how Vince's footwork is coming along. Alge is gonna be a serious Christmas gift for Vince. I read an article earlier that made mention of our crummy red zone offense. It mentioned how the Titans may employ Alge (6'2) Gage(6'4) R. Williams(6'4) and M. Williams (6'5) in the red zone to create match up problems. That does sound scary..if they can catch the ball.. I'll try to bring more pictures later. I'm not a computer whiz so work wit me...

Vincesanity, haven't gone to TCs yet but I have talked to people that have gone and said that the suddle nuances of CJ's abilities are amazing. Heard one play where Vince ran the boot out to the right and the FS went for him and the sam linebacker had to deal with the Crumpler so Vince just handed it off to CJ who just took off to the weak side tackle and then poof, one cut and gone, 85 yds to the house. He is giving Bulluck and Thorton fits and they are two of the better LBs in the league.

This is what I was expecting to see:

Plays of note: Quarterback Vince Young connected with receiver Justin Gage on a nice pass downfield early in practice, but was inconsistent overall. He was nearly picked off by safety Chris Hope, and many of his throws were off target.

That's from the link Vincesanity provided, (thanks BTW) i'm sure that wasn't easy to post.

It wasn't just Tuesday. From what I heard he wasn't too hot on Monday either. His short to intermediate passes were ok but the longer ones just didn't have the usual zip on them. Dinger came to his defense on Tuesday saying that 2 of the 3 picks that Vince threw were his fault. His footwork and mechanics in general look better than last year and his throws on the run are improving so I hope those are just bumps in the road.

In camp, usually when the offense runs plays against the defense, they go ahead and pick five plays and run them so they might run a play that they normally wouldn't run in that situation. It doesn't help the matter that he is going up against one of the better Ds in the league but he does need to step his game up.

On another note I have noticed that since LenDale is out of town that CJ is getting most of the carries so its not looking good for C. Henry. Jmac, Gage and "The Big Bacteria" are looking good. Mike Williams has lost weight but still is out of shape and is fighting an uphill battle to make the roster since he doesn't contribute to special teams. Kearse is looking good out there and seems to be healthy but he also looked good in Philly early in the season until he wore down as the season progressed. I think he is just happy that he won't be seeing double teams anymore. Almost forgot, CJ threw a TD. It was a duck but it got there.

Tennessee needs to just run the **** wishbone and let Chris Johnson and Vince use their speed and legs to lay waste to defenses. Barry Switzer...OC. Do it....do it!

Well if it nags him all season long maybe we don't have to put up with 8 field goals.

Rayna Stewart was drafted in '96 in the same draft class as Eddie George. He was a backup DB and played mainly on special teams. Few people in Houston saw him play since he was only here for one year and it was that last highly depressing year.
