Lot of talk in TC about which one was the best, Brandon harrison, or Brandon Mitchell. Well Kubiak cut Mitchell, so I guess that's that. Makes me think our safety position might be looking better than people thought this year. Bad as I have talked about him in the past, C.C. Brown looked pretty good toward the end of last year. Now Glenn Earl is back healthy so S.S. appears to be in good hands, with maybe Brandon Mitchell pushing them both for playing time. F.S. Will Demps looks to have this one locked up, but Barber and Ferguson might have something to say about it too. Some publications are giving us a C- for the secondary, but I have them at a B+ before the third game. What say you?

I dunno. Really tough to say atm.

I'd rate it at a C- right now myself but I mean that can be totally off...
For all we know the secondary might step up and prove everyone wrong.

I'd like that to happen but I don't know.
I like the optimism tho.

We definitely have some depth in those positions now. I can't wait to see Dunta Robinson and Bennett on the field together.

Heard McLame on the radio and he said "Don't be surprised if by the end of the year that Harrison and Barber are our starting safeties." Sounds to me like they are making some noise in camp.

i doubt that harrison and barber will be our starting safeties any time soon.

i beleive that Demps and Brown will start this season unless there are injuries or poor play from either of them

If you would have read it all his quote said at the END of the season. However it is doubtful to me, but sounds as if these guys have some game at this level.

Don't you mean Brandon Harrison pushing them for playing time?

guys we cant forget about glen earl either. mcclain has been saying how brandon harrison is the fastest safety we have with barber being the second fastest. kubiak cherishes speed above all....so those guys definitely have something working for them. I personally think demps is a starter. he showed the play-making ability last season. ive never really been a big cc brown fan. he's not a terrible player, and actually showed alot of improvement. i would like to see demps and harrison be the starters.

Yeah, Demps is a starter & showed playmaking ability last year. I just wish he didn't have stone hands, how many potential int's did he drop last year?

yeah, but he had a freakin club on his left hand for most of that time...

I think Demps keeps his job, while we could see someone new emerge at the SS spot.

Assuming you meant Harrison and not Mitchell, he's actually in the mix at free safety on our depth chart. Barber, meanwhile, is playing at strong safety.

Depth chart at this point (http://www.houstontexans.com/team/depthchart.asp) (unofficially) goes like this:

SS- Brown, Earl, Barber
FS- Demps, Ferguson, Harrison

Souldn't take much to unseat CC, he's about as good as Faggins when it comes to coverage.

Didn't Barber run a 4.7 in the forty during the combines? I realize that sometimes a guy just has a bad day at the combines and that it may bias his actual numbers by a couple of tenths of a second but still... that doesn't scream speed, particularly for a safety.
