When did we pick him up? I mean we have like 4 QB's on the roster? Now that baffles me....

Really? He's been a Texan since last season. Practice squad. Right? I mean he's been around for a while

Yes we've had him for a while now, going back to last season. I noticed he didn't get many reps during Thursday or Saturday TC. Actually, I saw Brink take pretty much all the snaps with the 3rd team.
Does this mean Boyd's gonzo? Or are the coaches trying to see what they've got in Brink, and then stash Brink on the PS?

I don't pay attention to the practice squad. The most I ever saw in pre-season games were Rosenfels and Schaub last season.

You will see both Boyd and Brink this preseason, I think Boyd is a more athletic guy and Brink more of a pocket passer. My guess Brink goes to the PS and Boyd is waived.

He came into the league in 2005 signed by the Titans to their PSquad then was cut. Signed and cut by the Steelers, played in NFLE, signed by the Cardinals(he actually played against us in preseason), placed on their PSquad, then we signed him when Schaub got the concussion.

I'm thinking Brink has a better shot if Kubes sees anything. They signed Boyd last year after Sage was playing cuz we were featuring Owen Daniels as the next QB!

Pardon me this is my first time trying to link an old thread of mine to this thread about Boyd. Hopefully it works... http://68.252.159.115/showthread.php?p=94586#post94586

I was at TC last week and from what I saw, if Schaub or Sage goes down, we're in serious trouble. Boyd has been with us since last year and I think he should have a decent grasp of the system but his throws were all over the place. If it were a live game, at least three of our receivers would have left the field on a stretcher. Sage and Schaub looked great of course but Boyd didn't look so hot, niether did Brink but he's gettin the "rookie slack". I think Boyd is the one who gets cut and Brink goes to p-squad.

If our first 2 QBs go down we'll ride our entire stable of RBs as hard as we can until one of one of them gets healthy. Whether it's Boyd or Brink filling in they'll be leashed and handled with care....much like a former Texan QB who's name shall not be mentioned.

Better hope that doesn`t happen. The RBs are just as thin.

Two words... training camp (or pre-season games). Somebody has to carry the load during the workouts.
The actual count will become clear after the first round of cuts. We will lose 1 quarterback for sure ... and I am taking bets that Kubiak doesn't keep 3 on the active roster.

Too bad every other team in the NFL knows to stack the box if this happens.

In one of the camp highlight videos Kubes said he would keep 3 if their performaced demanded it. And that those guys(Brink and Boyd) were battling for a spot. When asked if they were earning or had earned that spot he replied "kinda".
That aside I agree, I think Boyd will have to show he is significantly better than Brink to make the team. Brink will have to show he is as good as Boyd with potential to be better.

I saw that spot where Kubiak indicated he would keep 3 quarterbacks on the active roster... but got the feeling he was dealing a hand, especially with so many hard decisions for lineman, running backs and defensive backs. Once you saw Spencer waived and Kubs keep Sage as a backup with no trades so far, Brink is on the practice squad and Boyd starts checking out how to sell life insurance.
