Well I believe Sept is crucial to our sucess this year. I see it this way

Texans Vs. Steelers 17-24

Texans Vs. Ravens 31-13

Texans Vs. Titans 24-17

Texans Vs Jags 13-20

2-2 For Sept.

I think this even though is a 500 record, is good for us if we can at least go 2-2 through the first 4.

What do you think?

I have us at 3 - 1 in the 1st 4 games. I think Houston can beat Pittsburgh, Tennessee and Baltimore. I think Houston will lose to Jax in the 1st meeting and Houston will win the second.

I have to agree. I really think we will win 3 of the 1st 4 games.

Boy I hope you guys are right. It makes me nervous to think about it, but if we could do that, what a roll we would be on.

Well, right after all that we play Indy. So anything less than a .500 record in September would be harmful. However, the season isn't won in September.

When the Texans are healthy (hoping) they could go 3 for 4 here. But if the bug catches on, we're better thinking 2 for 4.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say 4-0 because I'm not sold on the Jacksonville hype yet. This is contingent on AJ being 100% healthy.

PuddleOfGlowing

I see 2 of 4 as being the most realistic, with 3 of 4 not being impossible.

hmmm, but I do wonder if the rest of the league would have a heart attack if we went 4-0.

My 9-7 Record prediction actually has us at 1-4 after 5, so I wil take 2-3 or 3-2 in a heartbeat, 4-1 or 5-0 I would go Ape****!!!!

The Steelers game could well set the tone for a good chunk of the season. Houston has a habit of surprising folks in week 1, just ask the Cowboys. If the Texans grab a win I suspect they will be thinking like "The Little Engine That Could" and that buys them wins in the next 2 games.

The Jags plays Indy in week 3 and Indy has a lot of injured players at the moment, including Manning, Sanders, etc. so the Jags could pick up a big win with the following letdown the next week against us. Afterall, it's only the Texans. Houston steals one and goes into week 5 4-0.

Indy comes to town still not near full strength, and with confidence questions... Houston is now 5-0.

The self-belief carries the Texans through the next 2 games with convincing wins agaist the Dolphins and Loins, and Houston goes into the bye week at 7 - 0.

The trip to Minnesota, and Adrian Peterson. Amobi, Okam, DeMeco, and Mario all explode and Adrian rushes for - 4 yards on 26 carries. 6 sacks on Minnesota. Benett get 2 picks and runs one back for a TD. Houston 8-0

The Bengels come to town and go home neutered, Houston 9-0.

The next week, a visit to Indy, who well may be back in form. The Texans may not escape this one with Indy having home field advantage, Houston 9 -1.

The visit to Clevland is a win, since we will have a fan there (see the 'My First Texan's Game thread), Houston 10 -1

Jags come to visit in Monday night Primetime. The Texans are determined to prove to the world they are for real and do. Houston 11 -1.

The Texans are on a roll and finish the season with 4 more wins, going into the playoffs as Division Leaders at 15 - 1. Jags grab second, followed closely by Indy and the Titans are back to the drawing board.

OK... Probably not the best in predictions, but a Homer can dream can't he?????

Nice dream....I share it....only I see us losing to the Browns. Final of 14 - 2.
It is possible, we just have to ride the wave of confidence and hope it carries us all the way.

This is funny, when was the last time the Texans beat the Titans? 6-7 games ago? If you are depending on Chris "The Glass" Brown for a running game your in more trouble than you think.

I see us coming out 1-5, maybe 2-3...but it'll be uphill from there.

Opening day in Pittsburg...See Rashad run. Loss

Ravens, I think we're better than them. Win

Titans, until we show we can beat these guys home OR away...Loss

Jags, this is the "maybe 2-3" game. I think we'll split with them. Win

Colts, they'll be rested up after a bye, we'll be beat up. Loss

here is my take....

texans @ pittsburgh (1-0)
- i think we win this matchup because we will win the battle of the trenches. i think our d-line will dominate their O-line, which they are still rebuilding from last year and they also lost faneca. i also think our linebackers will have more room to roam and stop their backs in the backfiled, being that we now have a 320lbs guy in the middle to draw double teams and free up our linebackers. offensively, we will run the ball more which will keep their blitzes honest and keep the pressure off matt schaub.

texans vs ravens (2-0)
- now this one wouldn't as easy as everyone thinks. we will come out with a win but we will have a hard time moving our offense against this defense. on the flip side, i like our defense over their offense...new rookie QB, sub par receivers, but watch out for ray rice and willis mcgahee. expect a heavy dose of those two because they will run more to keep the pressure off their priced rookie. i think we win by a field goal.

texans vs titans (2-1)
- titans have dominated us for years now. i have no reason to pick against them....unless we win this game, then i'll pick the texans for the next one. jeff fisher is one coach that has the blueprint to beat the texans. i hate to admit it but it is the truth. for as long as they have fat albert, i don't think we have much of a chance.

texans @ jax (3-1)
- people fail to realize that we have an all time winning record against jacksonville. yes, they are a good football team, but i think we have what it takes to beat jacksonville. the big key here is to limit turnovers. they no longer have marcus stroud in the middle of their defense, which will allow us run the ball a little more effectively. i think our revamped o-line should be able to hold off their pass rush. i also think that our new fat guy, frank okam is also a key to our victory over the jags. if he can pile up the middle and force jones drew and fred taylor to bounce outside, we should have success. also, if our young corners can cover their wide receivers one on one as we have been able to do in the past, this would allow cc brown or will demps play in the box and help in run support. i think we can stop their run game and hence win this game.

texans vs colts (3-2)
- this will be the game that makes us or breaks us this season. the colts may not have all their starters, but as long as they have peyton manning, our chances are slim. if we win this game, which i think we will lose, this would be the begining of the end of the colts afc south dominance. we are on the rise and they are on the fall. do we have what it takes to beat indy? lets see...great pass rush, yes. great secondary play, we'll have to see. great running game, i think we would have that this year. great special teams play, yes. but the ultimate question is...."who will cover dallas clark?" is our linebacking core up to the task? well, we'll have to wait and see. overall, i think we still have some work to do to beat the colts. i think we lose this game.

3-2 is my prediction for the first 5 games.

I agree with this. I think that we lose to the Jags and Pitt but I do think we can surprise the Steelers and start out 3-0 but if we do lose to them I say we go 2-2.

What do you think?

It is very reasonable. but I see them possibly going 3 and 1 in that stretch as well, but this schedule is brutal and i see all the games being very close. I see the pittsburgh game being decided by a field goal. The next game the Texans should dominate the Ravens if they are as good as we think they are.
I would not be at all surprised if the Texans go into rednecksee and whooped the Titans but again I would not be surprised if the Texans lost. The jags are a tough game to call because outside of last year they played them competitively. However we all remeber the debacle of last years game in Jax.
Bottom line The texans need to get to 10 wins to have a chance at the playoffs. check that every game is a playoff game next year, especially the first 4..

How well we do coming out of the gate will depend on Matt Schaub, and the defense. Dline has to control, the secondary has to shut down, and Matt Schaub must be in total control of the game for us to win. On second thought the running game will help keep the defense rested and off the field, if we can control the LOS.

Reread. He's saying Pitt may be a win and it (Steelers) may be a loss, thus 2-2 or 3-1.
