From my sportsbook,

Texans to win Super Bowl
45-1
teams with worse odds: Alt, Bal, NYJ, KC, OAK

Andre Johnson as MVP
40-1
player with worse odds: none, 47 players offered

Steve Slaton Rookie of the Year
18-1
out of 41 choices only 3 worse than Slaton

If the Texans were to win the Super Bowl with AJ and Slaton MVP and ROTY respectivly and you bet $10 on each, your $30 bet would net you $1030. I'm in for $20 each

He who laughs last.

When was the last time a WR was MVP?? Does a third down back have the ability to impact a Rookie of the year voting?

Not often or not likely, but is Andre a top 5 if not top 3 WR yes, as for Slaton we can only hope Texans management knew who they were drafting, but have seen that dude make sick plays at the college level.

As for the Superbowl that is lofty, take your money and bet the 7.5 over under on victories, you may have to risk more to win the same, but a much more sound bet.

Odds makers don't play favorites. They run a business. They're betting that someone like you will bet with your emotions rather than your head and they'll get your $$$.

You mean the house?

Dam straight - all the way to the bank if you think that's a good bet.

I was in Vegas last month and was happy to plunk down a little money on the Texans to win more than 7.5 games this season at +110. I almost never bet on sports, but this was too good of a bet to pass up.

It reminds me of the time the Packers were prohibitive favorites over the Broncos in the Super Bowl, mainly because at that time, the NFC had been whipping the AFC teams pretty badly in the Super Bowl year after year. Betting on a Broncos team that matched up well against the Packers and getting 15 points was like taking candy from a baby.

Nothing against our Texans, AJ or Slaton, but you probably could have spent that $60 more effectively elsewhere.

Occasionally there is a bet that is out of line (such as the poster above who bet on the Texans to win over 7.5 games) but they are infrequent, and don't last long.

I dislike even agreeing just a little bit with a Titan fan, but:

1) We really should make the playoffs at least once before talking about the Super Bowl too much, but I think that we are going to be competitive in our division this year, possibly winning 4 games (beating the Titans twice, the Colts once and the Jags on Monday night).

2) Slaton as ROY is simply unrealistic, and

3) I have to agree that Andre has evolved into having a tough time staying on the field. First the injury last year, then the knee scope, then a groin pull. I am beginning to expect that we are going to have to play a few games with him on the sidelines unfortunately.

I already have the 7.5 bet BIG!!! Made a killing last year on the O/U of 6.5 I choose to make this bet rather than betting on every game they play. I take the amount I would bet on each game and multiply it X 16 and bet that amount on yearly O/U

The small bets on SB,MVP & ROTY are homer bets. If I win one (Astros in 2005 WS) I can tell eveyone I predicted it. The money helped pay for my play-off tickets.

No harm, no fowl, just fun.

Steve who? So far, Andre has only had one season where he has missed a significant amount of time,(last year). You tack fans are very quick to label players injury prone, considering you have Fat albert on your roster who has hardly been healthy a full season. Oh and Steve Slaton, the guy who has been one of the most productive and playmaking running backs in college football the past few years. That who your talking about?;)
