Just an interesting evaluation of the QB talent in the NFL by ESPN... although they ranked the Texans at #25, many of you will be shocked/upset/relieved (depending on your stance) that VY and the Titans were rated #26.

Just thought some intersting opinions would arise out of the fact that ESPN at least looked upon the Texans favorably as it related to VY.

25. Houston Texans (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=hou)
David Carr is gone and ex-Atlanta backup Matt Schaub is now the face ofthe franchise. Schaub is a guy that coach Gary Kubiak has a lot offaith in, and in limited playing time in Atlanta, he really flashedexciting physical skills. He has a big arm, is smart and has excellentintangibles and leadership skills. All he needs now is playing time, and his chance for success is very high. Sage Rosenfels (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5557)will be the backup. While he lacks Schaub's arm strength, he is veryaccurate, calm under pressure and a solid No. 2 guy. The No. 3 job willlikely go to Bradlee Van Pelt (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7009), who played for Kubiak in Denver.http://espn.go.com/i/teamlogos/nfl/sml/trans/ten.gif26. Tennessee Titans (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=ten)
Vince Young (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=7752)played better than expected in his rookie season, but while he showsflashes of greatness, he is still far from a finished product. After asolid offseason, his accuracy and overall mechanics should dramaticallyimprove. His decision making got better the more he played in 2006, buthe still needs a lot of work reading defenses. Young has big-playcapabilities and can turn a game around with his arm or his feet. Hewill likely be a feast-or-famine QB his entire career, but hopefullythe big plays outnumber the bad ones. Kerry Collins (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=3115)did a nice job as a backup and mentor to Young last season, but he isno longer a viable starter. If the Titans keep three QBs (they keptonly two in 2006), the third will be veteran Tim Rattay (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5241), a quality backup.

Thanks for posting that, I was wondering what we were ranked (not an Insider, and the free content only goes up to #12).

And from another thread...
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/2004/draft/players/47945.html (http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/football/2004/draft/players/47945.html)
POSITIVES: Competitive signal-caller best in the short or intermediate passing game. Quickly sets up on the pocket, patient and buys time. Good field awareness, knows where his receivers are on the field and takes a hit in order to get the pass off. Zips the ball into the seam, accurate on the crossing patterns and puts touch on throws when necessary.

NEGATIVES: Cannot escape the rush or make throws on the move. Lacks the pinpoint pass placement and loses accuracy the further out to the flanks he is asked to throw the ball. Lacks a big league arm and not accurate with the deep pass.

ANALYSIS: An efficient signal-caller that plays within himself, Schaub has a nice feel for the position and makes good decisions in the pocket. Has limitations but should fit in nicely as a third-stringer.

Bottom line... the media doesn't really know either what we have in Schaub. So many questions, so few answers.

The past 3 years he's had an above average but not elite arm. Was projected as the 3rd or 4th QB to be taken in the 2004 draft behind Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, Ben Roethlisberger, but before J.P. Loseman before he injured his shoulder his senior year in college and was consider a steal in the 3rd round(by the same experts that are throwing him under the bus now). Alot of the ESPN sportscasters not the ex-jocks are Jets fan and they supported the proposed trade of Jon Abraham and draft picks including a #1 or a #2 for him in the 05-06 offseason before Abraham was ultimately shipped to Atlanta in a 3 team deal for a first and third round pick in 06 draft as well as a 4th in the 07 draft. Because Atlanta wanted 2 #1 picks for Schaub. Soon as we pulled off a trade they all changed their tune to him being an unproven back up QB.
