Hmmmm.... That headline makes me think he was given an ultimatum. I may be wrong, but when I read the title that was the first thing that came to mind.

**EDIT**

By the way brilliant move on the part of this organization.

Green wants what the Texans want. To win! He is a stand up guy!

To get Green to agree to redo his deal, the Texans are giving him $200,000 for every game in which he's active this season, starting with the second game of the year. That means Green can make three million if he stay's healthy for every game.

Pretty smart move. Hopefully $200k a game will have him healthier this year lol. Classy move by Green either ways for accepting this deal.

Good deal. It was a matter of time before Green either had to restructure to a deal with a lower incentive based deal or face being cut. Now we'll see if we start getting the production out of him that everyone has been waiting to see. If not then it just got a whole lot easier on the wallet to cut ties.

Stand up guy? Classy? Buahahahah! I mean, he might be both of those - but this situation doesn't do anything to show it.

Listen - he had no choice. The amount he would have gotten from a re-worked deal would still be WAY more than any contract he could sign as a free agent if the Texans had cut him. Rick Smith held ALL the power and leverage in this situation, and he used it effectively. Props to our GM again.

Class move. Bear with me here. what IF we are fixing to cut Colvin and Strahan wants to come play here? A couple of guys at work mentioned something about him saying he could do it if Favre did it. Just a thought thrown out there, that would be a pretty good opposite side rush, no?

I like it. I had hoped that Green would have a comeback year this season but was skeptical when he went out with the groin pull. I feel a lot better now. Now let's see if can produce.

Yes. If he gets a 5+ sack season, he should get a bonus. (We know that wont happen though)

Ahman has been a classy guy since he got here. I know he got hurt and everyone was mad that he was "collecting a paycheck for nothing," but he kept trying to play through the injury and it did not help him heal. I know the popular and easy thing to do is to label him a bad guy, but he never has been.

Remember how cool it was when he first got here and in order to get his number he donated money to that single mom... that is not the move of a classless person. I am glad he is on our team and I hope we can see him on the field this year as a productive back.

This new contract is just a nice change for the organization and it is not something that Ahman HAD to do. Everyone knows he is going to be at the steelers game starting, this just gives the organization some protection and I applaud Ahman for that.

Hey....if he doesn't play...he dont get paid.....that is the way all contracts should be......kudos to him for doing this...and freeing up some money....he did not have to do this......so great move ahman....

He had no choice, but to restructure. A former high school classmate of mine played in GB with Green (Cletidus Hunt) and he used to talk about how cool Green was.

But with his injuries, i wouldn't want to be cut if I was him. I applaude the Texans for realizing that injuries weren't his fault and both were able to work the deal as it is...

Yeah nothing new for us, I was pumped when AG came to Houston, but lets look at what he has done for us. Oh yeah he kept a few spots on the bench warm. Mark my words on this one, he will not start more than six games before he is back on the sidelines with a hangnail. If we did this as a financial move and start someone else than fine I'm with that but if he is our starter, we get laughed at again... Why do they not see this, maybe AG is using up a lot of kneepads to keep his spot

Wow So far two Texans have restructured their contract to stay playing with the team. Andre Johnson was the other who restructured his contract to stay with the team. I guess Ahman didn't want to get cut. :)

I remember one player who wouldn't of done that and he is playing with the Giants.....

Now do we go after a FA CB?

Now do we go after a FA CB?

If we only have $2 mill to spend I hope not, we saw what we got for $4.

Jacques I still believe you will help this team, we need you.

... he's the center fielder for the Bad News Bears. All his brothers were great athletes, but he just sat up in a tree in his underwear. :)

uh! I'm probably wrong but didn't Andre restructure his contract to free up money to sign Green. If so do you think the texans are fixing to set up a similar move. If they do I hope Its a DE.

im not that impressed with the move. true he did not have to agree to the restructure, but after all the money he basically stole by sitting out last season. he owes it to the organization. with that said, i hope he works for his millions this season.
