with the adding of wr bethel johnson we have solidified ourselves into having one of the strongest recieving cores in the afc...behind new england and indianapolis of course.
our last johnson/johnson duo was a tremendous failure on our defensive line...likes of which we are now hopefully recovered from (amobi okoye, yes!!).
look for the johnson tandem to combine for over 2000 yards recieving and at least 10+ tds!!!!
i have not been this excited for training camp since 2002!!

Frankly, I'm more excited about Andre' Davis than Bethel Johnson and Andre' isn't anyhting to write home about. No, our wide receiver corp will not be one of the best in the league. I'm just hoping for middle of the pack

I think Bethel was brought in to compete with Mathis primarily as punt / kick returner. If he can compete at WR that is a plus but he is not any better as a pure WR than what we already have on the roster.

I hate to quote Waterboy again... But... "This brings me to another point kids, never smoke crack."
Bethel Johnson is a longshot to make our final roster at best. He is undersized and will not be our #2 WR.

Mathis will be cut, Johnson will make the team by taking his spot, but we will not be an elite wide receiver corps because of him.

I think Mathis can beat Johnson. I wouldn't write him off just yet..

hmmm u seem way to excited about a guy who has done very little at the proffesional level, i dont see him doing much for our team, mathis will prolly serve better at WR than him, But i think K. Walter will remain the #2 guy.

Bethel Johnson has been cut by 3 teams in the last 13 months. I wouldn't get too excited!!

Chad Johnson and TJ Howshmanzilly 'championship'
Marvin Harrison and Reggie Wayne
Donte Stallworth and Randy Moss
Peerless Price and Lee Evans
Jerricho Cotchery and Laverneous Coles
Javon Walker and Rod Smith
Hines Ward and Santonio Holmes

I know AJ is good but....I think of bethel as a return guy only.
Andre Johnson and Calvin Johnson- now that would be the best wide receiver tandem in nfl history...weelll......it'd be **** close at least. -but of course calvin would have been more expensive than bethel for us ;)

anybody who thinks our receiving corps are among the best in the NFL is just not very smart. this is about the most idiotic thing I have heard all offseason.

you have only stated two recievers on the teams for this list...my statement is with bethel we will have one of the best reciving corps!!! behind new england and indianapolis who will be gods still...
look we brought in seriously underrated talent at wr this year in jones, adams, davis, and now johnson. with schuab i think we will see a much diversed passing game than we have seen before...
remember a certain former texan who was drafted in the second round and stunk for us and the eagles...but became a standout when he had a great qb in brady to throw him the ball!!! I am seeing that in johnson who did yes come from brady's team that is where he ammassed most of his yards and receptions on very limited playing time and opportunities.
just wait for training camp...we will see a very new houston texans!!!

Solomon of the Chronicle states that we are in a better depth situation at WR. But, until otherwise proven, we still lack the other halp of a "dynamic duo." It seem that in his point of view, despite the acquisition of Johnson, the Texans have not closed the book on McCardell.

I will give you this bt...
I am more excited about our wr's than I have been since webster slaughter & co.! lol
I thought Moulds was going to be a great trade last year but I still scratch my head over the price we paid him and gave up a 5th for 1 season...eerrrr.
I think we're going to have a really exciting return game too..
Mathis will be exceptional for the 2 games he plays.
I think Jacoby will do a decent job. I enjoy watching Anderson return kicks too, he's not near as fluid as anyone else but he gets the job done.
I can't wait for the season to start!

This is the best group of WR that the texans have ever had and I think that fact is worth getting excited over.

lol gaffney? he blew *** on the Pats, i can member so many plays in the playoff where he straight out dropped the ball when he would have had a TD or first down....speaking of gaffney dropping the ball, anyone member his famous touchdown drop?

You made that up.
Back-to-back 100 yd games in the playoffs against the Jets (8 catches) and Chargers (10 catches) plus a TD catch (3 total catches - and Brady's ONLY TD pass of the day) against the Colts in the AFC championship game.
Still, he may not make the Pats this season now that Moss, Welker, and Stallworth are in the mix. Plus the Pats have a youngster from Florida, Chad Jackson, that is coming off IR. So both Gaffney and Reche Caldwell will be looking for new teams by the time training camp is done.
Caldwell's the guy who had the dropsies against the Colts - from the CBS Sportsline GameLog: -- http://www.sportsline.com/nfl/gamecenter/gamelog/NFL_20070121_NE@IND "Reche Caldwell makes like Jackie Smith in Super Bowl XIII, as he drops a sure touchdown reception in the left corner of the end zone."

u know that if we cut Mathis, SOMEONE at espn will say something like:

"Well, now the Texans have taken another step back, cutting one of their two players to ever make the pro bowl, Jerome Mathis, the blazing return man who turned many heads in his rookie season. Mathis didnt play a down in 2006. It baffles us here as to why the texans would not utilize a player with such potential, but hey, what can u expect. They are the texans."

that or something along this lines.

Vonta Leach was cut by 3 teams also, and he fits great with this team. Maybe Bethal is a better fit for this team. We will just have to wait and see.
The competition is going to be crazy!!! Time for them to get too work!!!

I think the best tandem in the league will be Harrison and Wayne.
The best Trio, Furrey, Williams, And Johnson up in Detroit
I think Mathis and Johnson will fight it out for the honors of special teams and like the 5th WR for those last second hail mary plays.

I think Mathis and Bethel are both at the "Step up or step out point."
It seems like Mathis is living on past glory, and Bethel never really lived up to his apparent potential from his college days. It should be interesting to follow their progress thru training camp and pre-season to see if there is an attitude adjustment in either.

On the best WR tandems point, I hate to say this, but what about TO and Glenn? (wash mouth out with soap)
I think the tandem of Daniels and Johnson will be great, now all we need is a descent WR behind Dre'...
GO TEXANS!!!
