I let this simmer for 24 hours and decided that I am going to post it simply to vent. If any of you want to offer words of wisdom based on your trips to Reliant... feel free! If you do not feel like listening to my poor run-in with a section full of retarded Texan "fans" feel free to ignore this post. Sorry if this thread bothers anyone but I want tog et some feedback from others about this kind of situation because it was totally new to me. :(
I saw the thread started by Homebred Texan and I can respect that because he is taking the stance of a concerned FAN. I have never been to an Oilers, Rockets, Astros, or even an Aeros game where I saw the level of jerkiness that I witnessed last night.
I was sitting in my seat enjoying watching the Texans. I did not come to the game expecting to see much considering they announced a "no starter" game for the 4th preseason game. I hoped to see some more brilliant flashes from Jones and some great plays to add to the pile for DA, but did not expect to see much else that would thrill me.
Last night I had a number of people sitting around me bashing the team and how telling veryone around them how horrible Texans football is. They were talking about how we are the most pathetic team in the NFL because we only had 176 total yards by the 3rd quarter while Tampa had 270. They were laughing at how our running backs could not get much for yardage. More was said, but I do not care to have to think back through all of it just for the sake of venting my frustrations. Not once did they stop to think about the fact that these were all back-ups that might not have the same chemistry or skill level that our starters have.
By the 3rd quarter our section had cleared out enough that one of the guys was spread out with his legs covering three seats in front of him and his arms covering the two seats next to him while his lazy butt continued to throw insults at his hometown players that were in the shape he could only dream of being in. He did not have any beers around him so he cannot blame it on the good old "I drank too much" excuse.
I can understand fair-weather fans to a degree... but last night was shocking to me. I know I am preaching to the choir here, but I was truely a frustrated fan simply because people were disrespecting a group of guys that I really enjoy watching play. I did not find it cool, funny, or whitty listening to there sarcastic comments and I HOPE WITH ALL MY HEART that when I get to the regular season games that these idiots do not plan to sit anywhere close to my section.
Cheer for the team or do not come!!!

I actually had a few beers but stopped before the drive home, homie.
j/k
Haha, thank you for lightening the mood of the thread. :)
I am certain that if you were the dude sprawled over the rows of seat that you would not care much about spending your time on a Texans message board. The guy did not care about the team on bit, just how they wasted his time with their inability to compete with NFL teams.

They might not have been fans of the Texans.
Maybe somebody gave the tickets to out of town family or firends or they were corporate tickets that went to customers.
A True Texan fan would not have bashed the team that way.
They were probably just lost cowgirl or hillbilly fans.

Hi...
I have been a season ticket holder since day 1. I love my team and I don't mind having to dig into my pockets once a year for a donation to them... But I also had the worst game day experience of my life at the Tampa Bay Game...
I guess that is what set me off with my post... Here is what happened to me...
First, I lost my ticket in the parking lot somewhere while tailgating. I didn't drink even 1 beer because I was the driver that night... Couldn't find the ticket any where. So I went to the ticket window and they were kind enough to replace them with re-printed tickets. Great, problem solved. Got to my seat and someone who found my ticket on the ground, put it in my seat... Thanks whoever found it...
Then, I see this guy in line getting himself and his wife/girlfriend cokes...
I noticed that in his pocket, was a big bottle of whiskey. Party time for that guy... I wondered how he made it through our security outdoors with that thing. It was probably a pint bottle, but not a flask. A Glass bottle... I could see him getting drunk and then getting pissed and hurling that bottle at someone... I told security... An hour later, he was taken away and then 30 minutes later, he was back in his seat. WHAT???? They didn't escort him out? BLAHHH
Next, a guy sitting behind me, half drunk and half stupid, didn't want to lean back in his chair. Drinking beers and having fun, all is good. Until he spills that dang beer on me. AH Crap... I get up and go to the RRand try to clean it up the best I can. Grab some napkins to wipe the seat down and all is cool. Right? Nah, he wants more beer and still won't sit back. I mean this guys knees are over my seat. If I turned around, it would look like an act that should not happen in a stadium was happening... So I tell my Buddy, let's go sit somewhere else to avoid a confortation. So we moved down a level. I didn't like those seats as much as mine and hear people bashing my team also, like you did. How they suck and this and that... Well, it's there money, they can say what they want to as long as they are not cussing...
I left early. I couldn't take it anymore. Bad play from rookies on the field, fans being jerks, was too much for me...
Just a BAD Game Day Experience for me... Then I vented out and got blasted by many. So What... Sorry if I upset anyone... I really am, but I should not have gone to that game for sure...

You can be pretty sure that he was the beneficiary of the vast array of free tickets that were floating around. If this occurs during a regular season game, don't hesitate to call security.

Sorry that I posted this in the wrong section and thanks for the move. I certainly hope you guys are right about the free ticket thing.
The positive for the night was that I bought my wife one of the "Women's" Schaub jerseys and she loved it! So now we will both be wearing our Texans gear on game day and for some reason that little thing has me pumped! :)

I have not yet been to a game at Reliant but I have been to some Colts games. The last time I went, my son and I saw the Colts and the Ravens. We had drunk stupid acting idiots around us that were spilling beer, throwing food and one guy actually fell down the steps. My son and I went home at half time to watch the 2nd half on tv. There are inconsiderate fans at every stadium. I would like to see those drunk fans who spill beer and ruin it for the others removed from the stadium. I retire this January and will be moving to New Braunfels so next season I will try to get to some games at Reliant to see my beloved Texans. I hope my first game there is not ruined by some drunk *****. No one loves a cold Lone Star more then I do, but I wouldn't be upset if they banned alcohol from the games.
GO TEXANS

I had 6 awesome Bucs fans sitting behind me. They were friendly and not causing problems. They would stand up and cheer on good plays, but not to the point that it annoyed anyone around them.
I was embarassed at the home town turds that were bashing the Texans right in front of the other people that were cheering for the Bucs. Makes us look like idiots that do not enjoy what we have in the Texans. :( In my opinion I am glad I have a home town team to cheer for since the Oilers packed up and ditched us. Not to mention it is a team that I am passionate about supporting!!!

Awesome post for a person that is clearly a fan. My wife had some friends over and I was watching a Texans game. At some point a player was injured and I said, "at least WE did not hurt him, his own team hit him." The girls all started laughing about how "I am not on the team and not part of the WE."
GRRRR... good thing we were winning and I did not have any beers in me or I might have come unglued. :p
I've been to 63 games at Reliant and have never experienced behavior that I would consider offensive - to the point of calling the help line to get someone ejected. Although I can recall seeing a couple of folks cuffed by the cops and led out - I'm just lucky I guess that they weren't anywhere around me. I also recall a time when someone decided to dump beer out of the lower suites onto some guys in 102 after a game once..... Reliant crowds are pretty cool for the most part. Some of the most misbehavin troglodytes I've seen in there were the Pats fans at the Super Bowl back in '04 or whenever.
I've been in the same location since Day 1 and for the most part the fans fall into my live and let live group. I agree that some of the most obnoxious fans I've ever seen were the New England fans who were here for the Super Bowl, not even a Texans event.
There was a young man, probably in very early 20's a few rows in front of me during the Broncos pre-season game that pulled his shirt off after he was seated. Within a few minutes I noticed two police officers, one male and one female, standing near the row having a discussion. Then they both walked over to the young man and led him out of the section, and there were about 4 or five people with him that got up and followed. They never returned. I thought that the young man would have probably complied if asked to put his shirt back on, but since I don't know all the details behind the leaving or removal, I prefer not to speculate. Hopefully, though that the police didn't overreact to a situation and a simple request could have corrected.
