Update: Taylor will share the running-back duties with Ahman Green and Steve Slaton in the season opener against Pittsburgh, the Houston Chronicle reports.

Recommendation: Green is not expected to carry a full load next Sunday because of a groin injury, so the Texans will go with a back-by-committee approach in the season opener, which could continue on throughout the season.

...I guess we will see what happens. I am glad Slaton will see some good time.

Honestly, when I read this I think. Green is never going to be back to normal shape, but that's just a thought.

I just thought teams would be down to 2 running back by the regular season.

This is what I had heard through the grapevine. We are really dealing with just Taylor and Slaton.

Seems that way.

I just read some thread about Green's injury being a fake, boy am I praying for that.

Taylor is a good running back, but he doesn't have that X-Factor as a Running back and most teams want that. Slaton has it, but not Taylor.

That could almost make sense actually. Think about it. He knows he has a roster spot pretty much sewn up so he would fake it so that he wouldn't get hurt during the preseason. It's a crappy thing to do but at his age, I wouldn't blame him.

That makes no sense. He fakes an injury to the point where the Texans approach him to renegotiate his contract and take less guaranteed money. If the "fake an injury" ploy was his agents idea, then he should be fired.

If he is healthy, he can get more, but still, that is a dumb ploy.

It could add to the fake. And it wouldn't hurt at al because Ahman would know he's planning to play all 16+ games.

The problem with the whole faking of an injury is that the injury report will come out Tues (I believe it is Tues) and the team has to list him on that report. If he is listed and not injured, the NFL can penalize teams (they penalized Shanahan and the Donkos).

Green may have had some type of minor pull, like a groin. The Steelers kept Polmalu out all preseason citing a minor groin pull, even though Troy said he was ready. It was precautionary.

I would assume the same thing with Green until the injury report comes out.

How could they prove he "faked" an injury? It is not like the team is forced to make him play in the preseason. Just look at Brady and LT... I would be shocked if they tried to come after the Texans for holding a player out for the preseason when it happens all the time.
