i think we're done at WR... i found this tidbit interesting though:

• Word out of Charlotte is QBs Jake Delhomme (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=4555) and David Carr (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5887)are getting along well because they are both very family-oriented offthe field. We hear that Delhomme doesn't view Carr as any more of athreat to his starting job than his previous backup, Chris Weinke (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?statsId=5554).

i wonder why.

I think we signed Bethel Johnson as a cheap substitute for Mccardell, who apparently wants more than the league minimum.Outside of our draft picks I dont think theres much more left to spend

I remember there being an interview with Rod Smith where he said he would do anything to help Kubiak because of everything Kubiak did for him to get him where he is at today. If Smith became available, I would be all over it. I know he is old but he has still produced and teams have to respect him.

How is it that every thread STILL seems to turn into something about David Carr. Let's focus on the future of this franchise and not it's dreadful past.

I agree. I'm soo over Carr and would like the haters AND the lovers to just drop it/him. If people continue to do this, I may end up bringing up Matt Stevens in every thread and NOBODY wants that [:$]

I'm pretty sure Kubiak stated that the McCardell deal is still on the table.
As for Rod Smith(52-512 3td) he'll prolly be phased out over the season with Brandon Marshall(20-309 2td) getting more and more catches.

Another aging WR. No thanks. Lets give the young guys a chance to prove they belong.

ROFL

Yup Delhomme is a better QB than DC could ever be.

Id like Rod Smith perhaps in a coaching Role.. I think his body is about done. He could really come in here and inspire the kind of work ethic that has made him the greatest player to never be drafted.

Ugh, seriously... I just picked up Rod Smith for one of my FF leagues. I knew he was on a short timers list, but I was hoping to get a little use out of him this year. Dang it. ;)

You have to be Insider to read the entire article, but it says Rod Smith may have a hard time making it out of Denver Training Camp.

We don't need any more olver the hil players. We need to play some of the young ones and let them develop!

yeah it's too bad he's used up. Smith is one hell of a WR and it would've been nice to have someone like him on our team to talk up the rookies and show guys how its done, but I would think recovering from that at his age will have severely diminished his skills. Bethel Johnson is the insurance policy for now so I doubt Smith would get much consideration.

Coaching, however, is a different story.

Bethel Johnson is just the insurance policy for Jerome Mathis as a return man.

Rod Smith or Keenan McCardell would be the insurance policy for #2 WR.

I wouldn't count on it. It's looking more like Walter is going to be the guy and that's fair enough considering the RBs and TEs will be more involved. I really don't see us signing either one unless McCardell just suddenly decides to play for the league minimum. If it happens then great, but I don't see it happening.

16 games. 52 catches. 512 yds. 3 TD's

Followed by Hip Surgery to repair a torn labrum, frayed cartilage, bone spurs and floating fragments.

Leave him alone!

Literally.

If we pick him up, he is liable to break.
