Fantasy Football: Houston Texans team preview

I have to admit: I had to check twice. The Texans really went 6-10 last year? Really?
Considering the multiple injuries they suffered on their already shakyoffensive line, the running back wheel-of-fortune that landed on (ofall people) Ron Dayne (javascript:newWin('http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/players/fantasy?statsId=5040')), the game planning that begged David Carr (javascript:newWin('http://insider.espn.go.com/nfl/players/fantasy?statsId=5887'))not to do much of anything, and the defense that produced just 24turnovers, third-fewest in the league, a 6-10 record is actually rathershocking. Of course, it helped that the Texans got to play the Coltswhen the Colts didn't care, the Browns when the Browns were busypacking their suitcases, and the Jaguars (twice), who apparently havetaken up residence in the bizarro Seinfeld world, where Kramer's reallyquiet.

The Colts didn't care??? That's news to me. I remember Manning shaking his head in disgust because he just lost out to homefield advantage.

There's only one thing in that whole article that I agree with:
Casserly seems like a nice guy. But he sure screwed things up before he left town.

I think he got it right on 99% of everything. I emailed him to let him know that he actually knows about our team.
1. He says David stunk. Correct.
2. He said Casserly messed us up. Correct.
3. He said Sherman and Gado are proof that Sherman wants to get the band together again. Correct. (THAT one was funny. I laughed out loud on it)
4. Dayne was RB due to a spin the wheel situation. Correct.
I disagree with the Colts assessment, though. Peyton NEVER wants to lose. Never. He lost to Eli in backyard basketball game at his family's Thanksgiving get-together, for the first time in his life, and Peyton sulked for a few days...not even speaking to Eli. Dude is a freak. They can be up by 4 TDs with 2 minutes in left, and Peyton will chew out a teammate if they have to punt. So, no way did the Colts just lay down for us.
I thought it was a good article.

You know GP, reading your post made me go back and take a second look at that article. And I will admit I misread his message the first time. I totally spaced some of the author's key points. He's not really slamming us like I thought he was when I first read this (I must have been in a bad mood).
I guess like most FFL players, he's into massive stat production, not whether "middle of the road" stats can result in Texans wins. He's not a fan so he could care less if the team wins or not. So when I re-read the article with that in mind, I understand more where he's coming from.
In my mind, Schaub doesn't have to throw for 300 yds/game or Green doesn't have to have 100 yds & 2-3 TDs every game for us to win (it wouldn't hurt [:)] ). But if I'm drafting a FFL QB or RB, that's what I'd be looking for.

Great points from the article... I thought one of the funny things about it was that it said that kubiak was trying to unite the broncos while Sherman wants to reunite th packers... At least it isn't the cards...

If the Colts didn't care about that game, Payton wouldn't even have suited up, much less risked injury before the playoffs. Also, as I recall, there was some home field advantage in the balance that game.
Our team with lot's of key injuries beat their team with some key injuries, and That's The Way It Was!!!
