A little respect and the starting J. O. B.

What I can't stand is the people who keep saying Sage isn't a long term solution. But lets say he isn't a long term solution, at least admit that Sage is the solution if not one of the major ones.

Examples:
Leinart => Kurt Warner
Vince => Kerry Collins

Sometimes these young bucks just need a wake up call as the grizzly vet shows them how its done.

I get what you are saying, but there is no way you can say that Sage fits into a category with 2 superbowl champ QBs that are currently fighting out of back-up positions. Maybe if we had a Favre or someone backing up Schaub I would be more inclined to say, "send him in."

Sage has not proven to be a winner in more than a portion of last season's games against poor defensive teams. That does not make him a solid choice for the immediate or distant future for this team.

That's the Texans problem...we aren't giving Sage a chance on a long term level to prove himself, but only to clean up after the fact... and **** does he do a good job as a cleaner.

If this is the way we are going to continue treating the man, I seriously hope he bails and gets his due elsewhere =/

Having won so many games with Schaub in there and all, what a let down that would be to let Sage play and see what happens.

really, what do we have to lose if we let Sage play?? a game of football. We are going to lose anyway if Schaub plays, IMHO.

Course Kubiak has a lot to lose. having made Schaub his starter with no honest competition for the job. having made a truly terrible trade with Atlanta for Schaub to get him. Having backed Schaub all the way since acquiring him, regardless of Schaub's poor playing, to date.

This is yet another Capers-Carr situation. The Head Coach is going to sink or swim with his favorite QB choice. I thought alot of Kubiak, until he allowed his EGO to supercede his football good sense.

Sage deserved the job when Carr was let go. At least you got a chance to see what he could do. Plus it could have freed up money to address other positions where the team is lacking.

Start sending a message if anything, Kubes. If Schaub is not playing up to par, bench him and put in Sage.

Yeah he is kinda sending a message to Matt: "You're the starter no matter what" and kinda something like "Its ok if you mess up, you can stay in there, you just gotta go through and handle the adversity and overcome it".

the message imprinted on the back of the players shorts all TC was protect the ball. Schaub has been single handedly responsible for 6 turnovers in two weeks and continues to put the ball in harms way. That being said what kind of message does it send to the other players when the staff leaves him in. I have been a big supporter of schaub since he got here but he's looking more and more like carr every Sunday.

I know it's early to bench players but look at minn, tenn and tb. I'm for giving rosenfels a shot to send a message to matt that his play in unacceptble.

Yup, it looks like it worked for all 3 teams this week! And I completely agree with what you said

My point exactly. Those other teams didn't waste any time benching their Sacred Cow QBs, but it looks like we are well on our way to "Staying the Course" once again for another five years like we did Carr =/

That would really suck.

Our offensive line is the problem.

Because of our sorry offensive line we've watched David Carr turn into David Carr, we've watched Matt Schaub turn into David Carr & now the fans can't wait to watch Sage Rosenfels turn into David Carr.

The Titans' defense was repeatedly in our backfield half-a-second after the snap. Sage isn't going to fix that. Put Sage in and we'll only see improvement until Sage gets post-traumatic stress disorder like Carr & Schaub. Then what's your solution? Oh yeah, get a new QB at whatever the cost.

Sage has made the O-line look better than they actually are and then we forget that our O-line was ever bad in the first place. Some QBs have that kind of presence and so far Sage is one of em.

Unless you have a solution besides Sage, we are looking into a blackhole season again.

i have to disagree....

schaub is now so jittery in the pocket that he can not look down field and is constantly going to the check down. look at all the fourth down plays that he swung out in the flat. he had guys open down field and could not see them. thats not on the o-line. the line IMO held up fine today (most especially d brown against kvb), it was a matter of matt not getting rid of the ball. the guy is so afraid of getting hit, he gets anxious and can not go through his progressions, panics and checks it down, everytime. with all the sacks and beating carr took, at least he was a man about it and got right up.

he wasnt like that last year, then after week 1 he's afraid of getting hit, hmm i wonder why ??? cause the offensive line, 5 sacks in week 1, now he has the jitters, what do you expect ?

Yeah but the o-line wasnt like that either last year. Maybe changes are needed there?! Does Salaam need to go back in? Is it the scheme? The o-line coach? Questions that should maybe be asked.

Sage has the highest winning % amongst any Texans QB. I would say that is enough to make him a solid choice compared to the bad football I am seeing from the guy we are sending in there now. There are 3 words to sum up why Schaub is starting right now. """"TWO SECOND ROUNDERS"""" Sound familiar? Kind of reminds me of what we went through with Carr.

I couldn't believe that Kub didn't put Sage in at halftime. Schaub looked lost and scared all day and you could tell he did not want to be out there, if anything leaving him out there destroyed any confidence that he might have had.

Plus, Sage is awful good against the Titans, and we weren't too far behind at the half.

This thread is so typical.

The fact is that, by NFL standards, we have 2 backup QBs on the roster and no starter. Wake up; these guys WERE backups before they came here! Why should anything have changed?

Giving a guy a big contract and the starters' role doesn't change anything, except it locks us into playing him for the remainder of the year.

The only way we see Sage is if Matt gets an injury - real or otherwise. And for the record, I don't wish that on him. He has taken enough of a beating behind this line.

Schuab gets one more shot next week. If he loses the game by throwing 2+ Ints/Fumbles then bench him. Til then I say he's our QB.

all I was saying is that Matt was terrified and playing exceptionally bad. He should have been pulled for the good of the team. In any other sport or any other position, if someone is having a bad you pull him, period.

B4 the game even started, the TITANS were running their mouths about MATT and how he was always SCARED and runnin. and how they were AFRAID of SAGE. they even predicted the sacks and INTERCEPTIONS.....b4 it even happened.......if THEY know......why do our own fans act like THEY dont know. gr8 put MATT back in and we will see what happens...i,ll die right next to the team if that makes every1 happy....i PERSONALLY think SAGE should start and MATT should sit and WATCH....can any1 even remember how long its been since MATT even WON a game....ya real friggin BUMMER:mad:
