I finally find someone from the mass media who seems to be somewhat unbiased! [<:o)] Peter Schrager of FoxSports.com posted his rankings of every team's offseason moves, and he ranked us 20th (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/6818358). His comments were actually informed and he did not list only our negatives! He even mentioned certain less-than-noteworthy pickups such as Barber and Clark (i.e. guys who aren't stars).
And all of his concerns, such as the O-line and the draft, are justified without him just ripping us.
He did slip up with saying that we've been around for six years, instead of five, but I'll forgive him that.
I'm just so happy that someone out there doesn't rag on us all the time. He didn't even mention Reggie "Walk on Air" Bush.
Here's a cake for Peter: [^]

I think that is about all that any of us want. Get it right, say it true and don't just dog us. Any media type that does that is then doing their job correctly. The ones that just blast away are nothing but tools looking for a headline.

New quarterback, new running back, a new offensive tackle ... but will there be any new outcomes in Houston? The Texans have yet to make the playoffs in their six years of existence, and have seldom done anything cheer-worthy for their fans. This off-season, they went out and traded for Matt Schaub, paid big bucks for Ahman Green, and locked up OT Jordan Black from Kansas City. Houston also signed linebackers Shawn Barber away from the Eagles and Danny Clark from New Orleans. Gone are longtime Texans Domanick Williams (formerly Davis), David Carr, and Zach Wiegert. I didn't love the Texans' draft (they still haven't addressed that offensive line), but DT Amobi Okoye has tremendous upside. Joining DeMeco Ryans, Donta Robinson, and Mario Williams, the Texans now have a plethora of young, exciting defensive stars. Can they put it all together?
Biggest gain: Matt Schaub, QB
Biggest loss: David Carr, QB

Man...if David Carr is our biggest loss...I think we are going to be in for a great season and future!!!

Carr is only our biggest lost because they lose the week in week out correct prediction of such a major failure. Our cutting Carr is a lost for the national matter to actually predict something correct booo hooo. I have been looking at the power rankings on ESPN.com and sure I am bias towards Houston but these guys simply ranked the majority of the teams according to their previous records WOW that took some crafty sports journalism research. And thenerve of them to have like a lil blurb as if they are really laying down the letter of the law. It really boggles my mind the clout espn have but I guess it because of idiots like me that watch them religiously for any breaking news or highlight reels. As the case with Political news tv with Fox News challenging the older CNN, espn need some real challenge in the sports media in terms of tv. Fox can only do so much. If there is no legitimate tv competition these guys will continue to shove there agendas down our throats ie draft, mvp's, rookie of the year, rules, heisman and you name it. And when they are incorrect since theres no sufficient competition of their caliber they will simply move on to steroids or some other meaningless crap. sorry for the rant but i am trying to break myself of ESPN, and NFL network can only do so much

LETS GO TEXANS

It'd be nice if these guys in the media could spell Dunta correctly.
I mean, it is spelled Dunta, right? Peter has it as Donta.
I've seen some other national sports media writer do the same thing recently.
And I agree with the other posters: Nice to see an objective piece and not a trashy one full of sarcasm.
ESPN has ushered in the era of the scarstic sports journalist. It's old.

Yes, it is spelled with a "u", I missed that. But then again it's not a very common name, and for the guys like these who have to cover the entire league, if they forget something like that I'm not too miffed. At least he didn't spell it "Donte", he at least got the "a" in there.
But don't worry, by the end of the season D-Rob's gonna be so good that everyone will know how to spell his name.

It's a weird name either way you spell it. Now, if he couldn't spell "Matt" then I'd say there was a problem.

Even though these guys get paid to express their opinion, you KNOW half of them haven't done much research on all the teams they report on. We can beeyach and moan about a lack of respect in the national media... but when has a Houston team EVER received good press from the national media? I remember '79 like it was yesterday, and despite how good the Luv Ya Blue story was, the country thought we were all a bunch of yahoos down here. Did the Rockets get any respect after back-to-back championships? I don't know what it is about our city that makes national sportswriters so anti-us, but **** 'em. If they aren't perceptive enough to see the quantum leap this organization has made from just the last two years, they aren't worth reading, anyway. It'll just make our "I told you sos" that much sweeter. I'm a Houstonian 'til the day I die, and I'll ride with our teams no matter what (BTW, I lump all you Houstonian Titan fans and VY jersey-wearers with said sportswriters - you all can strum your banjos straight down 10 to Hicksville with a quickness). I know the progress we've made, and am looking forward to a great season. We probably will never get love en masse, but you're right, it is good to get a little objectivity sometimes:
