Can anyone tell me why Mario (our best pass rusher) was dropping back in coverage? And why we kept losing outside containment, the defense seems to be poorly coached or just some of the players are just lazy or stupid. How can Kerry Collins get those long runs if the ends and safeties are keeping him contained? We looked clueless on those plays.
One point I wanted to make is that it seems like our D line is made up of nice guys, we don't have anyone that wants to rip someones head off. Look at the Dallas D line or Titans, it seems like they have constant motors and are hungry for blood. That is just my take.

They dropped him in as an LB a few times yesterday to get more pressur ein on Collins. The play where he jumped to try and deflect a pass was rather odd and had me scratching my head too. On that one they might have tried an all out LB rush and had Mario drop to the flats to cover any possible floating balls tossed out due to the pressure.
Speaking of rushing, I liked seeing our CBs run some blitzing packages to keep the Titans guessing. The second half was actually fun to watch our D.

Our defense was very good in the second half. 83 yards allowed, only one field goal scored against them. That's a lot considering the Texans turned the ball over three times (on downs or INT) that required the defense to get back on the field. The final INT returned for a TD is obviously not included in that statement.
Mario was probably being dropped back into coverage to give Collins and the Titans O-Line something else to worry about. If you're dedicating two people to blocking one guy, and he doesn't even attack the LOS you've got two new problems to worry about. Where is the pressure coming from and how am I throwing it over a guy who is 6'7".
If there's a Dline I'd want us to emulate, it'd be the Giants. Do they even have a dedicated 0 Technique DT? It seems like everybody that plays DT for them is attacking gaps, not waiting to see how the play develops. In the next offseason, I'm hoping to acquire another DE/OLB hybrid with a low pricetag or a low draft pick.

I'm still looking for the "RAGE" in our Ragging Bull defense...

This is exactly what I was saying yesterday....out entire team is made up of nothing but nice guys! From the coach to the practice squad kicker (with the exception of TJ). We need that mean streak, the cocky get-it-done-at-all-cost headhunter. We need to get nastier all the way around. Not saying we hire a bunch of convicts but some players with an edge.

He has the Tats! We could put him on the O-line next time we play the Tacks to get some revenge on Fat Albert.

Why would you waste two defenders to contain Collins? Nobody in sports period would've known Collins was gonna run. one of those plays was a broken play...

My point was that the defensive ends job (weaver) on the first long run is containment. And on the other run the end and brandon harrison got pushed inside while he ran outside, they looked very confused.
You do make a very good point though.

Oh, I'm thinkin you were saying that they brought two to contain....MY BAD:D
We absolutely need an attitude adjustment towards the house of pain style. ****, i'd even take one season of the ridiculous penalties of the old jerry glanville days in order to get there quicker (not L-T though).
I know Diles had the forced fumble and a couple of nice plays, but he also had quite a few blown coverages. Greenwood is always up there in tackles, but he seems rather soft overall. I don't believe these guys put the fear in opposing offenses like linebackers should (we need a huge upgrade for atleast one of these dudes in off season, I'd keep Diles over Greenwood). I can't believe C.C. Brown is the best we can do at SS, but regretfully he is and that's BRUTAL. He needs to be replaced ASAP.
One thing I did like , eventhough the Titans rushed for atleast 150 yds, is the fact that Travis Johnson was out of the game for injury. That guy is a waste of space and needs to be traded or cut (salary cap hit would suck) I'd rather see Zgonina or Okam go thru some growing pains than watch TJ anymore.

More like a mid life crisis. :)
OK, sentence structure could of been better, but any1 who is a knowledgeable Texans fan knows that Zgonina played with Rick Smith in college so I guess it would be safe for any1 reading on the true Texans fan site would know that fact and know I meant Okam. I sincerely apologize for my bad sentence structure.
Didn't want to write a book so I left out Weaver and cornerbacks given our best CB is injured.
