If you are refering to Slaton bouncing off Fat Albert, Al was being blocked while slaton bounced off, part of the reason he got loose in the first place.
The O-line is doing well and the Zone blocking scheme is at it's best when you ahve 5 players drafted for the purpose of running the system. We currently only have Myers at center that ran a pure zone scheme and 1 draft pick at LT that Gibbs felt had all the right pieces to work well as a zone LT.
They are starting to do more technical stuff like pulling tackles to the flats to block while the line checks down a man to prevent penetration on the runner. In game one they appeared to be struggling with the basics against a Defensive formation they do not see very often.
I read somewhere that converting to a zone scheme can take 3-5 years to get players that fit well with the movement needed on the O-line. Since we were running a hybrid zone/man scheme already I am thinking we can get it fully installed by the end of this season or possibly part way into next season with a draft pick or 2 in order to seal the line.
Zone blocking is a thing of beauty when it works the way it is supposed to, check out some of the Dever highlights to see what a team moving as one looks like. We will get there and the fans will reap the benefits as we cheer our team on.

Was Joe Montana the best QB in the league after 2 weeks? no.
Things take time, if you guys can't look out into the future for this franchise, then you guys are worthless fans.
Time is the hardest thing for people to understand. Everything is supposed to happen right when we want it to in the fastfood society we live in.
Luckily some people still understand that the best things in life are not immediatly available to you. Once this team begins down the path of success I am certain we will have achived it the right way and that our success will not be in one season and out the next. Kubiak, Smith, and McNair are working to build this team into a winning organization, not a winning season as soon as possible to look good for a season.
I think some people have forgot what it was like having a nickle and dime team like the Oilers in town. For Bud Adams it always felt like he was out for money, not a winning team. I love the new team in town and I am glad Bud is gone!

I thought our line looked a little better this week. By mid season, I think it will all come together. This game was lost by turnovers, dropped passes and a few poor decisions, not the ZBS scheme.

I agree and I am looking forward to the rest of the seasont o see the team grow stronger. I did not expect the losses to come in the fashion they did, but we have to have faith the issues will be corrected.

I have to say, I think Brown did better this week. He had another monster in his face and learned on the job. As for the line, they were doing good most of the time, they were taking on a solid defense, heck these weren't Aggies we were playing ! New system, new people, just takes time. By mid season they will look much better and everyone will say how well the line is blocking lol!;)

My opinion is that the blocking scheme is getting blown up in the interior portions of the line. Casey Hampton was in our backfield all day W1, and Haynesworth was having similar success against us. I look forward to seeing the system progress over the next few weeks and even years. It seems like we're already starting to figure out the running game, but I feel that we need to be able to develop in pass blocking without having to dedicate 6-7 people to the job.

I think that slaton deserves more credit than the scheme, maybe when the scheme start working he will really be carving up defenses. I think we need some heavier linemen.

A lot of teams run zone blocking; including college teams. Our advantage is that Gibbs originated it and has had success whereever he implemented it. That shouldn't change, so we should do all right. I would love to see what would happen if we didn't force feed it and used some quick strike passing to make defenses get out of those eight man fronts. Sage Rosenfels, anybody?

If we are going to run the ZBS then big lineman are going to be a bad idea. One main point to the scheme is to get lineman up to the second level(linebackers). The ZBS requires quick and agile guys. With big(heavy) lineman that wont work unless you find some freak of nature.

be patient grasshopper, the ZBS works, these guys are still learning it, it takes time. If you ever played football, basketball or even soccer for example (I put baseball down there with bowling and golf as a sport) it takes time to gel as a team. You have to look at the line as five guys who have to work together, and know where each other is at etc... it doesn't happen overnight, and it will be about mid-season before you will see how good they are (or bad for that matter).

If you think baseball is an individual sport (if that's the point ur trying to make b/c ur not 2 clear about it) like golf and bowling then you have no credilbility when speaking of sports period.

it's just a general statement to fans that aren't going to be patient.
Some of us have been patient since day 1. Seven (7) years of futility.
Where do you get off saying that those of us that have waited 7 years aren't patient?
What, is there like a rule that says you have to wait, say 14 years? Then you get credit for being patient?!?
Dude, don't tell me I haven't been patient. If you want to buy into what Kubiak is telling you, knock your-self out. I've heard it all, seen all the mistakes, the lack of preparation, the lackluster play....Don't tell me I've not been patient!
Maybe thats what they're counting on, that all the fans have the patience of Jobe, that we'll all be happy just to have a team that suits up on Sunday.
Well, after 7 years of being on a 4 year building plan, I'm ready to turn the heat up on this team. Honeymoons over. I want results, and the sooner the rest of you stop brown-nosing these guys and start demanding the same, the sooner the FO wakes up and starts returning the $$$$ we spend on this team in the form of....just being in the game how about? I don't want to put the bar too high for now.
