What I've seen in the last two games( not to mention last season ).
1. On defense our DE's KEEP getting blown to the outside ( pushed out of the play )
They should be past this since HIGH SCHOOL.
If the tackle is guiding you to the outside you should try your best to get inside real fast( spin or something) ELEMENTARY. Plain and simple.
2. When we do blitz, which is hard to tell because we suck at it, the guys we send seem to be looking for a blocker to hit. WTF? Every time we send extra people the other team has no problem picking them up. I was falling for the " Vanilla because we don't want to give up our scheme" thing in pre-season, but come on!! I see better blitzes in HSFB all day!
3. What are they "teaching" our defense, if anything? Most of the problems we show are ones that should've been handled in HS or at least College.
4. Dumb play = Dumb mistakes= Dumb looking team.
I've met quite a few of our players and they don't seem dumb, so somethings not right here.
Offense
1. OMFG! I played football from PW to HS, so I can't say I know about the plays and formations in the NFL, but if I can tell what we're about to run I'm pretty sure the other team does.
2. When we had a quarterback start a game like MS did ( twice ) the coach would just chalk it up to bad day syndrome and put in someone else who usually didn't.
3. M.S. seems to get rattled or too many concussions or something. When he's on he's on, when he's off LOOKOUT you don't know where it's going.
4. receivers, quit waiting for the ball to get to you!!! GET THE BALL!!! There's these things on the end of your arms called hands!!!! stick em out there and grab the ball.
( That is of course if the QB Threw it to you and not the imaginary 12ft. tall flyer behind you!)
5. The line seems to be holding its own. A few slips here and there but not as bad as we used to be.
6. COACH / F.O. / Womever it may concern. Why o why do we have a aged and apparently injury prone RB still on the roster. I can tell by watching the games that these younger guys want to play and can when given the chance. I don't know ******* about the ZBS we're using. How about this one instead which worked for my coaches, IF YOU SEE A BANDIT IN FRONT OF YOU HIT HIM, BLOCK HIM, KNOCK HIM DOWN.....IF ALL ELSE FAILS HOLD HIM TILL SOMEONE ELSE CAN!!!!!!! Slaton, Walker, and even Taylor can play if they're given a hole for a little bit!!!
Don't get me wrong I'm a Texan fan for good, but my friends and family are constantly amazed when I call what we are running before the snap, or that we're in the wrong coverage for that formation. Pretty soon my 5 yr old will have the plays down and SHE'LL be calling them. Try something different...
MR. Smith, if that's all you have for your defense then you need to hang around that Labeau guy from PITT or sumtin!!
