what do you feel your team has to do this week to beat our team? Just curious.

we have Porter this week, what does that mean? Well, i think it means we have a little bit more breathing room and we should be able to get the ball in the air more.

On D - pass rush
On O - run block and no turnovers

Oh yeah - kick FG's when we have a chance!

We absolutely have to be able to pick up the blitz and make several downfield plays. I don't see the Texans sustaining long drives, so big plays against the blitz are probably a must.

we always struggle if we can't get our running game going...but if we can, we can normally pull out a win!

Porter is good... but you do not have that much breathing room, with eight men in the box rushing the qb. He will have to completely beat the secondary if he can get the ball off in time

For me it comes down to execution. Due to the layoff after Ike I thought we looked too distracted and just played sloppy. AJ dropped passes, Schaub was drunk (just my theory) and we were using a dart board to pick our plays.... The Titans gave us loads of chances to get in the game and we just didn't at any level. I expect the team to play well against the Jags but neither team is really playing up to expectations. It would be nice if we got a game that was well played (by both teams) and of course ended with a Houston win...

Oh and Slaton looks like the real deal so you may see something you have never seen from us....a running game.

I think it comes down to the fact that the Texans have A LOT to prove to their fans, each other, and the NFL in this game. I will be totally shocked if we have another showing where we do not appear to be ready for the the Jags will throw at us.

I just do not see Kubes allowing the team to continue in a downward spiral if he can keep them out of it by getting them overly prepped for Sunday.

We need coaching to be spot on with good play calling.
We need all the players to play to their potential.
We need to stop the Run.
We need to stop the passing game.
We need to complete easy passes.
We need to block well enough to build on last weeks success at running the ball.

I think that sums it up in a large nutshell.

Start believing in themselves. Become fearless. Become aggressive. Grin, spit teeth, and get back out on the field and deliver the blow instead of taking it. Develop the attitude that nothing is more repulsive than being defeated.

We would need to stop the run, and maybe get a few interceptions too. The O line needs to be able to protect the quarterback. Matt Schaub needs to make good decisions and steve slaton just needs to keep up what he's doing.

i have a feeling the Garrard from 07' is on his way back, i really wouldn't expect many turnovers due to interceptions. Just remember, we have something to prove also, just because we won at Indi doesnt get us off the hook. If we lose to you guys, everyone is going to assume our season is over. We REALLY need to get on a roll. Im hoping when we play Pitts. (next week i think) that Leftwich is in there (our old QB) bc watching him makes me giggle just a little! :p

Things we need (IMO)

Schaub needs to regain his confidence in the pocket. I don't know what happened to shake him so bad, because he played spot on the first two games of preseason. He was about as accurate as a QB can get, and now there are references to him being the next coming of Carr. I don't believe that for a second.. Schaub has the skills, he just needs the confidence and support of the team, and the fans.

Slaton needs to use last weeks running success as a jumping board to our game in Jacksonville. He knows he has what it takes, the fans and the NFL are beginning to see that he has what it takes, and Kubiak and company know he has what it takes to get the pressure off of our QB by opening up the ground game.

CB Reeves needs to capitalize on the interception he had vs. the Titans and realize that he has the speed to be in any recievers back pocket, and that simply playing for the ball will get him interceptions and get us another chance at 6 points.

Our O-line needs to understand that we have something special in Steve Slaton, and they need to block and give every possible opening to Steve to allow his speed to get us downfield.

A. Johnson needs to concentrate on catching the passes thrown his way. He is one of the best recievers I have seen in past years, and there are no excuses for dropped passes that are thrown into his hands.

The Jaguars are the only team other then the Texans that I like to watch play. You guys play smashmouth football and every yard gained is a yard earned, not to mention I liked how you guys took Indianopolis down a notch this past Sunday.

My prediction:
Texans - 24
Jags - 13
Schaub turns things around and capitalizes on the Texans new found ground attack. Eager to prove he is a starter for good, he utilizes A. Johnson for a 60+ yard touchdown.

Schaub to Johnson (60+yrd) TD - 7
Slaton 6yd run TD - 14
Kriss Brown Field Goal - 17
Schaub to O. Daniels (12 yrd) TD - 24

GO TEXANS!

(and here's to an injury free weekend for both teams)

i would be SHOCKED if the Jags let someone score 24 pts on their home turf...that almost sounds insane to me. Seriously, i will throw my beer at someone in the bar if that happens  well maybe i shouldn't do that!

All we used to have to do to win was show up! But now you've doublecrossed us by letting Leftwich go! Seriously, I like the Jags and respect your coach, but we need a win more than you do. BTW, the Titans were allowing 60 yards on the ground before Slaton showed up. He got 100 plus in the first half. In the second, they stopped worrying about our passing game and put up the eight man fronts. We really are starting the wrong QB. Rosenfels was 4-1 last year; scored 24 points on the Titans in the last quarter in relief. Van den Bosch said he was going to take it easy on Schaub because Rosenfels gives them fits. We'll put him in if Schaub gets hurt again, or if we don't win any games through our home opener.

a repeat would be nice, hmm but i dont wanna hurt jags_baby to much so i'd let em get a touchdown or a field goal, u know something to keep her spirits up. :D

To Duval_Wall:
1. Frank Okam - DT draft pick this year who is massive and will clog up running lanes.
2. Safety blitzes, d-line needs to do their job as well as linebackers.
3. playaction passes will get your LBs on their heels
4. DG can be contained

not much really:
1-get pressure on Garrard
2-run the ball consistently
3-pass the ball well

doesnt mean we'll win, but we'll be competitive. If Mario is mario, Slaton can repeat his performance somewhat, and Schaub breaks his funk, itll be a good game. Of course, you guys have fred friggin taylor:( I still dont see how him and Mario werent good enough for the pro bowl...
