Here`s why this game was no blow out. The Texans had the running game going in the first half. The running game took a back seat in the second half. The coaching staff called to go for it on 4th down, I think 3 times in FG range. We have one of the best kickers in the league. That`s 9 points lost folks!!
Our offensive coordinator is coming around... give him time. Our defense always starts slow in the season. Our QB doesn`t call audibles to a pass when the line is stacked or call a run when there are 5 db`s in the secondary. Come on coaches, please let our qb`s learn audibles and ones that the team can do in their sleep that work. I`m not trying to tell you guys your jobs.
I completely turned from Oiler fan to Texans fan as of last year. These 2 losses are embarrasing but the Texans played 2 really good AFC teams. We could have beat the Titans on the road. We can beat the Ravens if all phases of football work. We all know this. GO TEXANS!!!!!!

I was in Addison for the Oktoberfest this weekend and only heard the radio account of the last half driving home. The play by play guys were mostly talking about the bogus pass that the Texans didn't challenge. But I recorded the game, and finally watched it last night. To my supprise (after reading the board comments) the game didn't look so one sided at all. Our QB play wasn't great but he could have been bailed out early with good catches. It was close until the non challenge on the long pass. only a two point lead. They were leading the league in run defense, only allowing 60 yards a game and Slaton trashed that all by himself. I think we'll beat the Titans when they come here. But Matt has to improve this week! Rosenfels moves the team.

The Texans were supposed to be a REALLY GOOD football team this year too. Getting spanked by Pittburg in week one and the sloppy response in Tenn dosen't cut it. I place the blame entirely on the coaching staff's poor preparation of the team as well as their poor game plan x2.
We've probably got the pieces to be competative, what we lack is proper coaching, leadership and direction.

You must have bought into the ESPN hype and all the kool aid on this board. The texans were not supposed to be a REALLY GOOD team this year. We were supposed to struggle to get to 10 wins, which was the most anybody even gave us a chance for. I think most of us were thinking 8-8 to 10-6. We did add alot of talent this off season, mostly in the way of draft picks as usual. It will take time for that to pan out, although Slaton could provide and instant boost as rookie RB's often do. While getting destroyed by Pitt and not playing better (drops and awful play calling) against the Titans sucks, it is by no means a reason to give up on this season. We were humiliated by SD last year, and played poorly at times. Last year we were just lucky enough to open up against some awful teams, and even lost to one of them (ATL). After 2 games you cant say you know everything about the team. The titans game could have easily turnout out better. No int for a td in the fourth, 2 field goals and andre catches that td, and its our game. You couldnt say anything like that against Pitt. Anway, the jags a ready to get beat.

Sorry, this is my first post addressing all the negativity after the titans game, I deciede to get it all out now

I didn't buy into any of the hype. Kubiak was the one who said anything less than a playoff berth would be a disapointment. I'm simply throwing it back at him. And since when isn't getting 10 wins a "stuggle"? Any team that gets 10 wins has to struggle to get them. They don't come easy. If you win 10 games I put the team in that "really good" catagory. As far as the Titan game, you can coulds, shoulda, woulda yourself all the way to the SB, but it is what it is. A sloppily played game.
And I don't profess to know "everything" about this team. But i can certainly see a team that come to a game unprepared as they did against Pittsburg, something that Kubiak himself admitted. And I think I have enough knowledge to recognized a sloppy game as was played in Tenn.

Other than Slayton, there isn't alot of positive things to say right now, so I guess we should just shut the forum down for now huh?

I may make some of you mad but i agree with the announcers. The only reason this wasn't a blowout is because Fisher, pulled up his team to not roll over the texans during a week of alot of problems for many of the citizens of the city or houston. I think he had empathy for a us not that we almost won the game. We played horribly. It was a systemic failure period. I am a die hard fan but that doesnt mean that i should drink koolaid. If the games were close or we looked evenly matched, then i wouldn't be upset. WE looked like the practice squad. Doesn't make me less of a fan to point it out.

Does Kubes come to this board because all I see is you throwing it at US.

I may just stop coming to these boards all together because reading through all this trash does not benefit me in anyway. It is just annoying coming here to read all these posts now. Preseason was great because everyone was optimistic, now everyone is all doom and gloom because 2 games this season have not gone the way we would have liked.

I cannot wait to see all these "glass is half empty" fans eat crow!

I am actually pretty sure that the reason the game was nto a blowout was because Charlie the magical unicorn found Candy Mountain. We did play horribly, but Candy Mountain really changed the outcome of this game. We would have been doomed otherwise.

See we can all make up stupid stories and pretend they some how are grounded in reality. IT IS FUN!

Since I haven't heard a positive note on "WHY" we didn't kick the field goals, does anyone know the real reason why? I know that Kubs said we were having problems with the long snap which we even saw on an extra point attempt. Was it the new center we acquired or the holder or a combination of things?

Wow dude, take your blinders off - I'll tell you what I'm sick of, people that want to hang anyone who speaks a word of negativity. We could argue if the team is good or bad or whatever for a long time, but that's not even the issue for me, and many others - the bottom line is that given the players we have, the level of play in our first two games is nowhere close to where it should be. So many elements - the passing game, the coaching, the tackling at times... I could go on. There are so many things to be fixed. If you, and others, can't pull anything negative from what we have seen so far, then maybe it's your judgment that needs to be under question. In order to get things done in this league you have to be a hardcore organization - and I just haven't seen it yet. I'm not saying we don't have it in us, I'm not saying that at all. Check my posts, I'm an optimist. If you can't agree that the current state of the Texans is not good, then there isn't much else I can debate with you.

He was trying to shift the momentum byu scoring when we needed the score more than the field goal. 7 points would have boosted the teams moral, instead we ended up shooting ourselves in the foot due to poor play calls in the red zone and on 4th downs.

Myers is not our long snapper, so I do not think that had anything to do with it.
