Dude..... really? You're a bit late with all the crying. Did this team improve steadily every year Kubes has been here or not??? In my book that makes him an effective coach. He is changing the culture of the team and his track record shows it. And if you think Mr. McNair does'nt want to win, then you sir are a fool.
I know we have looked like crap the first two weeks , but last year there was a team who looked like crap the first two weeks who got it together and made a run after an 0-2 start.... and that team was the New York Giants.... that turned out pretty well.
Anyways, sorry for the interruption, continue with your lame-@$$ tantrum.

8-8 last year for the first time, 14 of 16 games left in this season, and you've given up?
Sounds like a personal problem...

I would just like to say, that since Gary Kubiak has been hired as the HOUSTON TEXANS Head Coach, This franchise has IMPROVED. THAT'S RIGHT IMPROVED. You cannot make it to the NFL PLAYOFFS & WIN SUPER BOWL CHAMPIONSHIPS WITHOUT IMPROVEMENT.
The proof IS IN THE RECORD!!!! The 2008-2009 NFL REGULAR RIGHT NOW IS ONLY 4 WEEKS OLD!!! AND YES, THE TEXANS ARE 0-2 HEADING TO JACKSONVILLE BUT IF YOU CANNOT BE SUPPORTIVE WHEN THINGS ARE BAD, WHY EVEN CHEER WHEN THINGS TURNAROUND FOR THE TEXANS WHEN THEY GET INTO THE PLAYOFFS AND WIN SUPERBOWLS. SERIOUSLY, ALL YOU BOO-BIRDS AND TEXANS HATERS GO MOVE TO dallas AND BECOME cowboys fans. AND STOP POINTING OUT THE OBVIOUS.... THAT THE TEXANS ARE STRUGGLING, AND SHAUB HAS BEEN PLAYING BADLY, AND THE OFFENSE IS STRUGGLING. WE ALREADY SAW THAT. WE ALREADY KNOW THAT.
I HAVE BEEN A TEXANS FAN SINCE BUTT ADAMS MOVED THE HOUSTON OILERS. AND NO MATTER WHAT, A FAN'S JOB IS TO BE THERE FOR THEIR TEAM THROUGH THE HORRENDOUS, THE UGLY, THE BAD TIMES, THE WORST TIMES AND THE GOOD TIMES, AND THE SUPERBOWL TIMES. SO IF YOU WANT TO LEAVE....PLEASE DO SO.... NO ONE IS FORCING YOU TO BE A FAN OF THE HOUSTON TEXANS.

Were you a Houston Oilers fan? If so, how come you don't root for the titans? If you're supposed to be there for your team through the good times and bad, it's safe to say that having Bud move and rename the team would be the bad times.
I'm just curious cause I see a lot of people say they are die hard Texan fans and were die hard Oiler fans and how real fans stick with there teams no matter what. Yet it seems like most of these "die hard" Oiler fans didn't stick with there team when things really got rough.

I think the answer is obvious - they are no longer the home team. We're all fans of the Houston Oilers - but the minute they became the Tenneessee Oilers, then the Titans - they were no longer a part of the daily Houston culture.
I can't believe I had to explain that.

I am still trying to convince them there are fans in San Antonio.....They have yet to realize its a large city with no football team. There are just as many people who hate Dallas as there are Cowboy fans. Unfortunatly, they are loud and obnoxious and so the organization uses the... SA is in the Dallas market line and despite the fact Sa is closer to Houston than Dallas it might as well be on the moon as far as the organization is concerned.
Again I will remark that the Texans marketing department bites. ( should be title of thread)

I went to nearly every Oilers home game from 1978-96. I was as passionate for my home team then as I am now. When the Oilers hit the city limit sign up around Kingwood (or over in Baytown depending on the route the moving vans took) I stopped being a fan of that franchise because they now belonged to someone else. The emotions I felt for Bud after he made the decision to leave helped me cut the cord. I watched out of the corner of my eye the year they played in Memphis because it was mostly still 'our' players, but as the years went on that interest waned. The Houston Oilers were our TEAM but in 2002 Bud's franchise became a division rival and hated enemy. Quite simple.

So let me see if I got this right. You're not a die hard Texans fan because of the team itself, you're just a die hard fan of the Texans because they happen to play in Houston. Guess I just don't understand. I mean how can you be a die hard fan if you'll stop rooting for your team if the owner decides to relocate the team.
I don't know about the rest of y'all but I'd be rooting for AJ, Dunta, OD, Mario, Kris, and the rest of the crew no matter if they are in Houston, LA, NO, SA, Mexico, etc. Guess that means I'm not a die hard fan...

I appreciate your reply. I can see how rooting for a team for so long esp if you were able to go to all the "home" games would really leave a bad taste in your mouth when Bud did what he did. The reason I asked is because I see myself rooting for the Texans no matter where they are at and no matter what there name is. Maybe if I lived in Houston I wouldn't feel the same way and wouldn't root for them if they relocated. Thanks again for the insight.

I found that old Oilers fans who lived in other states or countries in the mid-90's when all the move crap came down had less of an issue with the move and readily jumped on the titans bandwagon. There was definitely a jilted home town factor involved in how fans reacted. We saw it play out daily here and it hit home (literally) for the locals a lot more than it did for other Oilers fans in other parts of the country.
As far as the 'follow the team' logic, is everyone in St. Louis supposed to root for the Cardinals and not the Rams? Kind of a similar deal... after a few years and your players are weeded out most people who live in a city with the NFL will probably gravitate toward the home team - especially if they're good. There are exceptions of course.

my thoughts exactly. i dont think we are nearly as bad, but if we were and for as long as them, fans might've burned down Reliant stadium and caused a riot on 610 by now. :D

Ditto. I bet that did hurt to have to justify that. We were the ones that attended games here in Houston at the astrodome and cried and cheered the boys in blue. In no way are Titans the same team of old and of Houston.
My 2 cents
