State which you are choosing and why. Lets assume you are putting quite a bit of cash on the line.

I am going with the under (7 wins). Where as I think we are going to be a much better overall, I just dont think it will show that much more in our win column. Its the NFL, and we play in the AFC.... not to mention a division that at the end of the year I feel most will claim is one of the toughest.

This is easy. Over.

The AFC South will not be regarded as one of the toughest divisions in the NFL.

1. Indianapolis has taken an all offense approach and gutted their already porous defense. This is surprising considering Tony Dungy is considered the Tampa2 mastermind. (Actually, it is Monte Kiffin)

2. VY will be playing running back full time this year. The Tacks got rid of his receivers and the only guy he had to hand the ball off to.

4. The Jaguars did nothing to either improve their team or make it worse. The Texans swept them last year.

The Texans will go 5-1 in divsion.

Split with Manning and crew. Sweep both the Tacks and the Jags.

Wins against Miami, Oakland, KC, and Bucs.

That's 9 right there.

I'll take the over.

So basically you are saying the Hags and Tacks are BOTH gonna be easily below .500? I think the Jags will be atleast .500 this year imo. They won 8 games last year, and 7 other losses were within 6 points. The Qb posish is definitely key for them.. but that Defense is gonna be big again, and that will keep you in most games. And yeah, the Titans had a negative offseason..... so I wont argue there, the will probably be worse. But there is always that **** VY factor.

The one thing you can count on with Bud Adams as the owner...

Every decent or winning year will be followed by a horrible one due to his "cost saving" measures. He's in it for the money. Pure and simple.

VY will keep butts in the bleachers for him. Bud did Houston football fans a favor by leaving town.

I didn't say the Jags would be below .500. I just said Houston will repeat the sweep from last year. We just seem to have their number.

Then if you have us at 9 wins, and you know the colts will be at 11 or 12 wins, and the Jags at .500 or better, etc.... then that would definitely put us up there as one of the tougher divisions.

Over. I predict an 8 - 8 season with a great deal of improvement over last year. That's only 2 games better than last year and I think we are a much better team so my prediction is conservative.

To make money, the over and under with most sportsbooks is 6.5. I'm laying money on the over with ease.

If I were Vegas.... my line would start to move ooohhh, right about now. 8.5 would be the new line... time to hedge. I like the optimism!

I would bet over - 9 wins - our first winning season.

Split the Colts and Jags, sweep the Titans, and beat KC, Miami, Raiders, Cleveland and Tampa Bay.

Don't understand how over/under works... say this moving target is now 8-1/2, what's the payback for betting on one side of the line versus the other??

Thats a good question.... but someone else might have to help you out with that one. I assumed it went like this:
The over/under is the number of points oddsmakers expect will be the total score for the contest (both teams combined, overtime included). (in this case win total). You bet on whether the total points scored will be more or less than this number. As with point spread bets, you must generally wager $110 to win $100. Betting on a point spread or money line is sometimes called betting "sides" - that is, betting that one side or the other will be the winner - while betting the over/under is referred to as betting "totals".

But I guess it could have a money line associated with it as well.
Either way... this site has us a 6.5 as our over/under. Seems like a great over bet for around here.

If it's Vegas and the over under is 6.5 I'm betting over.
If it's here and the line is 8.5 I'm taking under.

Found it. http://www.footballbet.net/bettype.html

Totals (also known as Over/Under bets)

The combined score of both teams for games wagered on, all totals lay $1.10 to win $1.00 unless it is otherwise indicated.

Example: The player lays $110.00 on the OVER in the NY Jets/Dallas game. The total for the game is 45. If both teams' combined score is more than 45 than the player would win $100.00. If the combined score is equal 45 the game is considered "no action" and the money is returned. If the combined score is less than 45 then the wager is lost.
So "The House" is taking the Under....
Me too. I tend not to bet against The House. Especially after they bumped the line up to 8-1/2. My money is on 8-8.

I'll take over.I think 9 or 10 wins is possible barring any major injuries.

Season:
Chiefs - winable
Panthers - winable
Colts - probably not
Falcons - winable
Dolphins - winable
Jaguars - winable
Titans - winable
Chargers - probably not - but they do have a new coaching staff they might not be as good as last year.
Raiders - winable
Saints - 50/50 - I am just not sold on the Saints
Browns - winable
Titans - winable
Buccaneers - winable
Broncos - 50/50
Colts - probably not - unless they have the division and playoff berth sown up and Peyton sits for most of the game
Jaguars - winable

I think we have an excellent chance of out first winning season - barring the type of injuries the O line had last year.
Barring major injuries - at least 9 wins with a good chance at 10 or 11.

The correct line is 6.5 wins for the season. The movement has been the money line. The over started at + 135 which has droped to + 110. Where as the under was + 115. and moved to + 110. EXample: a $ 11.00 bet on which side you want pays the same right now. Say you win, you get back $ 21.00 - which is your bet $ 11.00 and the win $ 10.00 . If you lose, you get butkiss. The orginal poster being a Texan fan posted his own line. Which I would gladly grab a bundle on the under.

Yeah, I'd have to bet with you now that he moved the line to 8.5. We'll be better than 6-10, but not 50% better (3 more wins than last year). If I'm wrong it'll be a bet I'll be quite happy to lose.

I still take the under if I'm honest. I see us getting 6 wins this season and no more. 8.5 is just a joke!

Dolphins - WIN
Jaguars - WIN
Titans - WIN
Chargers - LOSS

OK I am not a homer or a doomsayer. Without reading too much into it I would say under 8.5 over 6.5. That should put us around 7 and 9.
