The rookie premiere is a total joke.... it's supposed to be about the top rookies taken in the draft. They don't have amobi on there... yet anyways but they have stanton and lorenzo booker on there.

I sometimes wonder if there is so much hatred to the Texans by everyone EA,NFLN, and ESPN. I think they are mad because of the 2006 draft and getting Matt Schaub. I don't know if it was worth the four dollars a month to watch them dis the Texans.

I think some people are too paranoid...
The Texans are a bottom rung team and until we win, it will remain that way.

Not paranoid its the truth, but yeah we just need to start winning to shut them all up. I swear this is the longest off-season I have ever waited for.

The only thing I agree with is the off season is much longer this year... than in the past. I'm feeling someone has sneak a extra month in some where.

As an NFL fan, I want the network (don't have it, yet). And when I think about it, I'm not really going to watch a lot of stories about the bottom dwelling teams. This type of programming caters to a very small audience (usually just hometown fans).
That being said, it should be no surprise that the Texans do not get much coverage. They did follow our mini-camp, which is a bit of a surprise, but I'm not going to get upset about a perceived 'lack of respect' when my team has not done anything to really earn anyone's respect.
This off-season has been the longest one so far, IMO.
Well, as a substory to the Vick deal, two minutes ago Adam Schefter just talked in glowing terms about Schaub and how he has established himself as the new Texans QB. It came off very positive toward the Texans.
I've never understood all these comments about the networks/media outlets 'hating' the Texans for this and that. They don't hate the Texans for anything. They don't have a reason to hate them. They don't care about them because the Texans don't matter - unless they're making yet another 'bonehead' front office move - according to the court of popular opinion and sometimes us. That's our image. They make fun of the Texans because they are the 98 lb weakling and until the Texans bust someone in the mouth it will continue.

There were only 2 defensive players at the premiere,Gaines Adams and Patrick Willis.Jamaal Anderson,Laron Landry, and every other defensive rookie wasn't there. So I don't think they Shunned the Texans.

Well 1st order of business is going 3-0 in regular season, and watching the couldn't pick a winner in a one horse race media fall over and break a leg. Trying to get on Texans bandwagon (which I would suggest some on this board need to do)

The medias not pissed at us by any means. Sadly, we're a small market sports town. We're simply irrelevant to the rest of the U.S. I personally blame all the fairweather fans, but I could be wrong. Houston seems like a very fickle town.
For example, the national media blasting the Yankees for Roger's contract - giving him flights, allowing him to skip games he's not pitching in, etc. They didn't seem to notice he had the same contract here for 3 years.
Same with the Texans. Look at TV coverage. TV coverage is based on ratings. We sadly don't have that much (relative) support outside Houston.

Ummm. The last time I looked, Houston is the 4th largest city in the U.S. The 2nd largest (LA) doesn't even have a team making Houston the 3rd largest NFL city. Not exactly what I would call a small market.
Now if you were to say Houston is not what the sports media would label a "sexy" market, then I would agree 100%.

I do not believe it has anything to do with the size of the home city of the football team.
It has to do with how your are marketed. Dallas Cowboys play in the NFC East - Why greater market Nationally not locally. The Packers the Redskins the 49ers the Patriots are not marketed locally they are marketed Nationally.
Until Houston Texans make a National splash they will not make Natioinal news or recieve national interest and therefore not get any National Media love. JM.02$
Did anyone see on NFLn where Woodson said he believed Carr would start for the Panthers before too long?

That was because the Yankees have always had a lot of clubhouse rules that have been around for many, many decades, and often those rules prevented one player from being treated a lot better than the others. To my knowledge, the Astros don't have long-running traditions and rules.
Sadly, we're a small market sports town.
Houston is the 10th largest televeision media market in the country. That would not be considered small.

The media doesn't hate us; we not interesting. Why? Its our plain vanilla owners and teams.
Drayton McLane is no George Steinbrenner and Astros have had the same tired, line-up for a decade. Except for Clements, who garners any attention? I ask you, outside of Houston, who paid attention to Biggio's 3000-hit countdown?
Bob McNair's only claim to fame is he passed on VY/RB; nationally, that's worth a confused head shake or more likely a laugh but it doesn't keep you in the spotlight like the antics of a Jerry Jones or Al Davis or the way Daniel Snyder was throwing around money when he first got the Redskins.
Hell, I had to google the Rockets to remember that Les Alexander was still here. No one is going to confuse him with Mark Cuban. Yao and T-Mac are choir boys compared to Kobe's and some of the other guys' antics.
No one on the Houston sports scene is a good, self-sustaining story; except for Roger, when he's teasing everyone with his "where will I play this year act".
No clubhouse fights. No T.O.-like drama queens or Ocho Cinco-type clowns in any of our locker rooms. No essentric (sp?) owners for the press to follow around to see what they'll do/say next.
We have no flames for the media moths to be drawn to. Face it, in this National Enquirer media world, we're just not good, juicy press guys.

Pfft. Alternative - Cuban/Jones/Steinbrenner NO THANKS!
Owners should sit quietly in their luxery boxes, exuding class and dignity. They need only speak when it's to ask, "How much?", when we want a player.

And that's exactly what our owners do. So, in this drama-queen, shock-jock news world, we're just not very interesting.
And I never said that should change.
You know what our biggest off-the-field excitement was? When Ahman Green agreed to pay a down payment on some deserving family's new home in exchange for getting his #30 from Jason Simmons. And to illustrate how sick the news guys are, did anyone hear a word about who the lucky family is from ESPN or Fox or even the Chronicle? I think I saw one blog that mentioned that this is an idea that should catch on with other teams but nothing in the way of follow-up from the national sports media.

I agree the media does not hate us...its just that we have not had anything but bad front office moves to bring attention to us. If we would have gotten RB or VY then we would have gotten more attention because those two guys were getting all the attention in college nobody really knew about mario. I like Mario but untill we start winning we really don't have any news to report there is no history here that they can talk about except for bad history in a short time. I like when they diss us by not talking about us because all we have had is bad news.....it just sucks that New Orleans is doing good because they have been the pinata for so many years no that leaves us the raiders and the cardnials. The raiders atleast have some good history and the cardnials are an up and comming team. So as far as i am concerned they can leave houston out of thier shows till we do better because i hate it when they bash us.

bad and mediocre teams have pundits say bad and mediocre things about them...nobody "hates" us and we are the biggest market team in our division. Like in life...."respect" is up to us. We get it when we earn it. The season can't start soon enough for me.
