I remember last preseason we had a star in the making named Jacoby Jones. A relatively unknown kid out of Lane College who the Texans said had great talent and potential. We met him last preseason and he blew us away with his speed, playmaking ability, and obvious passion for the game. Then came the Indi game when he got hurt. Coming back after that injury it was noticable he wasn't the same player. He fumbled many times and just lost his confidence. I was the first to volunteer to drive the bus to ship him outta Houston after all of his preseason fumbles and bumbles. Then came Miami. His 72 yard punt return for a touchdown. It got me excited but i was still reserved because anyone could get lucky once. I was so wrong. Cinci comes in and he runs the first punt return to the house. His shiftyness and speed were all on display.I finally recognized who this awesome playmaker was. It was Jacoby Jones and he's back poised for the pro bowl. This week he faces the worst special teams in football and is poised to have another big game. Welcome back JJ.

I really am not trying to rain on your parade because Jacoby is electric on special teams, BUT...we didn't take him in the third round to just return punts and kicks. He hasn't really excelled in the passing game like I hoped he would. He's allowed David Anderson to get ahead of him on the charts. Jacoby's shown flashes of why we drafted him, but there's still a lot of learning curve ahead for the guy.
And David Anderson...best end zone dance ever.

You know, with the improvements he has made in the return game. I don't mind if he lost his spot to DA. He has really improved from preseason, and that shows hard work. As long as most of our receivers are top notch I am sure we can spare one to excel in some thing other than their offensive position.
Oh yeah loved the dance!

JJ will play a big role in the game with the Vikes. Regardless of whether he returns a punt for a TD or not, if he puts our offense in good field position, we have a great chance of putting up points and winning. I am looking forward to see if he stays consistent this week, especially against a poor special teams coverage unit.

Childress has already said that they'll try to punt away from JJ or out of bounds. Good news is there aren't too many punters who can actually put it in the coffin corner anymore.

Isn't it nice that we actually have players that other teams are "afraid" of now. :D
Remember when we were hopeful of that, now we have MW, DeMeco, Dunte, Andre, and some other emerging talent that will be better down the road. It makes me all warm and fuzzy to finally see talent on our roster after so many bad years.

last year jacoby's problem was that he was thinking too much. after he caught the ball, he would wait too long to make his move. he didnt let his instincts take over. most of what kick/punt returning is improvisation and adapting to what takes place. we see that alot more from jacoby this year
