In all of this feel good OTA's, kicking it with the fellas, making phone calls, and interviews. We all know the dirty little secret the pink elephant in the room, the gorilla in the corner. All the cliches'. WE HAVE NOT SEEN THIS GUY PERFORM ENOUGH.
1. If Shcaub turns out to be bad, however the Texans improve their record say to 9-6. Does Coach Kube and Smith still have a Job?
2. If Schaub turns out to be Troy Aichman but the team modestly increase 7-9. Does Coach Kube and Smith still have a Job?
3. Delommne gets hurt, Carr comes in and suddenly pull a Garcia. What would be the Houston fans reaction.

The scariest part about this whole thing is basically it's a gamble at the most important position. Sure everyone is saying this dude has the right stuff but that have to translate. I will remain optimistic but it's scary of what the ramifications may mean for Kubiak and Smith tenure here.

I don't think that their jobs would be in jeopardy, but they would be feeling some heat....Spell-check much?!?!?![:D]

I'm not going to go into a lengthy "because" speech for each question but my answer would be yes for questions 1 and 2. On the 3rd question, I think fans are well aware that if Carr goes on to do great things they'll be happy for him but they also know he wasn't capable of doing that here. When you're at the point that it's just not fun for you anymore and you almost don't wanna go to work, almost nothing could've made it better for Carr (even Reggie Bush). I apologize for making it sound like I'm speaking for all the fans but I do know there are several fans who share my opinion.

I don't think that Kubiak and Smith's jobs are tied to Schaub's performance. If we have a really bad year this year, then they'll be on the hot seat next year. But we improved enough last year that they have at least this year (possibly this year and next year) to get it turned around.
If Schaub performs at an acceptable level, he keeps his job. If he doesn't perform at an acceptable level, he doesn't keep his job.
If Carr performs well, then everyone who said that Carr's problem with the Texans was his supporting cast will be able to say "I told you so." If Carr doesn't perform well, then everyone who thinks Carr is a bad QB will say "I told you so." If the Texans offense looks bad with Schaub at the helm, Carr's supporters will say "I told you so." If the Texans offense looks good with Schaub at the helm, Carr's detractors will say "I told you so" and Carr's supporters will say "They finally got some talent in here and fixed the line and David could have done at least as well with the same supporting cast, it's comparing apples to oranges."
IMO.

Not according to what John McClain is saying, you have to remember, Carr was the owner's darling

Huh? I have no idea what you're saying.
Which part of what I said are you saying that John McClain is saying something contradictory to and why would you think I would know what John McClain is saying? And which part of this do you think McNair's sponsorship of Carr would contradict? You think Kubiak is on a tighter leash because he talked McNair into dumping Carr? Or do you think that if Carr performs well Kubiak's leash is going to shrink?
Man, is it the offseason or what.

This is Kubiak's second season and Smith's first full season. They'd have to go 0-16 to lose their jobs, and even then I think that McNair would give them another shot.
I don't think that McNair would tie their jobs to Schaub's performance. For one he's entering his first season as a starter, and 2 he's still young. As long as the team is improving, I think that the braintrust of Kubiak & Smith is safe.

3. If DelHomme gets hurt in the game? Hello Fresno tuck! There will be gnashing of teeth in Pantherland before the game is over. Trust me.

1. Yes if we go 9-6 someone should be fired, for skipping a game

2. I dont know who Troy Aichman is but Schaub better outplay him....

3. Everyone will then have 2 QBs to say the texans should have (VY being the other)

I think all Schaub has to do is prove that he is a better QB for us then David Carr would be this year.

I don't think their jobs are going to be pinned to one players performance. There are 21 other players and the special teams that will be playing as well. It will be a total team evaluation before someone loses their job. And I think these two guys will be here a long time.
