      • Jaguars DE Fowler arrested on battery charges
Jaguars DE Dante Fowler was arrested on misdemeanor charges of simple battery and mischief in St. Petersburg, Fla. on Tuesday night.

Fowler allegedly got out of his car, hit a man, knocking off his glasses, and then stepped on them. The arrest comes exactly one month after DC Todd Wash said Fowler has "matured a lot" heading into his third year. Fowler was released early this morning on $650 bond. The former No. 3 overall pick missed all of 2015 with a torn ACL and recorded just four sacks last season while taking eight penalties.

UPDATE: Court records show Dante Fowler was arrested in March 2016 in Miami Beach on charges of assault on officer/EMT, resisting arrest.

Those Fowler misdemeanor charges were dropped in Dec. 2016, as would normally be the case after completion of a pretrial diversion program.
Dante Fowler cited 10-plus times in 20 months
According to Mike Kaye of First Coast News, Jaguars DE Dante Fowler has at least 10 traffic tickets dating back to December 2015.

Since it was revealed he was arrested on Tuesday night for hitting a man, knocking off his glasses, stomping on the glasses, and taking the man's groceries and throwing them into a lake at an apartment complex all because the man criticized Fowler's driving, Kaye has decided to dig into local court records. It has revealed Fowler was once cited for driving 98 MPH in a 55 zone and another citation was for careless driving, causing $1,500 in property damage. Fowler could be subject to a suspension following his recent battery and criminal mischief charges.

        • Falcons CB Jalen Collins suspended 10 games by NFL

          Around The NFL
Another season, another rocky start for Falcons third-year cornerback Jalen Collins.

After serving a four-game suspension in 2016 for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances, Collins was hit with a 10-game suspension to start 2017 for a repeat offense, the team announced Sunday.

Collins won't be allowed to practice with the team after the preseason ends and cannot return until Nov. 21.

"We are extremely disappointed that for the second straight season we are dealing with a suspension for Jalen," general manager Thomas Dimitroff said in a statement. "Such are the consequences when certain choices are made. Our decisions going forward will be based on what Dan and I feel is best for the team."

Had it not been for a phenomenal 12 games last season, this might have been the last straw for Collins, a second-round pick out of LSU. However, there were few defensive players more valuable to the Falcons down the stretch in 2016, especially after Desmond Trufant was injured.

Over 636 snaps last year, Collins logged two picks, 10 pass breakups and 28 solo tackles. He also had 10 tackles in a 34-28 overtime loss to the Patriots in Super Bowl LI.
Collins easily is the biggest draft mistake in the Quinn/Thomas Dimitroff era. The Falcons can’t count on Collins, and it’s doubtful they could get much of value in trade for him. Which team would give up real assets for a largely-unproven player who is one failed PED test away from a two-year ban? Any team that wants Collins could just wait for the Falcons to release him, a move that seems inevitable.

                • Bengals CB Adam Jones Officially Suspended One Game

Field Yates of ESPN reports that the NFL has officially suspended CB Adam Jones for the first game of the 2017 season for violating their personal conduct policy.

This stems from Jones’ guilty plea for obstruction of official business stemming from a January 2017 incident.

The NFL explained to Jones that
extensive video documentation of the tone, tenor and nature of your interactions with law enforcement at the site of your arrest, during transportation to the jail, and during the booking process. As you acknowledged, your post-arrest words and actions reflected poorly on you and your family, the Cincinnati Bengals football club, and the NFL. While it is our understanding that appropriate apologies have been publicly extended, they do not completely negate your behavior and admission of culpability for the underlying conduct.
The Bengals released the following statement back in July regarding the news:
The Bengals anticipated this result and are glad to finally put the matter behind is. Our focus is getting ready for the upcoming season. Adam will participate in training camp and we are counting on him to help our team when he returns from suspension.
Jones, 33, is a former first-round pick by the Titans in the 2005 NFL Draft. He was in Tennessee for two years before serving a year-long suspension in 2007 for violating personal conduct policy. Jones later signed with the Cowboys for one season before landing a three-year deal with the Bengals.

Jones is in the second year of a three-year, $22 million contract that included $6 million guaranteed.

In 2016, Jones appeared in all 16 games for the Bengals and recorded 66 total tackles, one interception, seven pass defenses, and one forced fumble. Pro Football Focus graded him as the No. 36 overall cornerback out of 112 qualifying players.

                  AKA Pacman.
