Default What If All We Drafted Was....

Offensive Lineman in the first two rounds. Would you hate our draft or would you think that we are finally deciding to make this side of the LOS a strength. The reason I ask this is because as things stand right now, we really have two pressing needs on the OLine.

LT - Salaam has been decent but has been getting up there and would serve best as a back up on this team.

C - We are only an injury away from not having Flanagan and I have my doubts about Mckinney coming back to form.

Even if we acquire a 2nd round pick, I say go LT in round 1 and center in round 3.

There's always someone in every draft that thinks the texans should spend the first two picks on OL. This is not going to happen! Gibbs prides himself in turning 2nd day OL in stars.

I can't see it actually happening.

But, if the Texans could solve their OT and C positions for the next 10 years in this draft, yes, I'd be totally fine with taking OL with the first two picks. In fact, I wouldn't mind them trading up if it would get the right people! I wouldn't want them to reach just to fill those positions, though, but if the right people fell, I'd be fine with it. I think OL is more important than RB, and as for defensive backs, at least there's an opportunity (unlike for OT and C) to get someone good in free agency.

If they are the best players available when we get our picks i say yes. But i agree that the secondary needs to be addressed also.

Sidenote: I heard that the steelers center is going to be available next year as a free agent. Would he be that much more expensive than a first round pick? To me he is one of the elite centers in the league. His name escapes me at the moment though.

I say take best LT in the draft with our first pick...but seeing as how they are looking to be taken quickly...I say we keep our options open....Kenny Phillips would be a dream, Mendenhall or Stewart are possiblities, I've heard people calling for Oher and Clady, but it will all depend on what moves we make in the FA period....if we can secure some positions of need during FA then BPA at positon of need or trade back would be my guess.

Mahan will will probably stay there. HOwever none of the 1st round OTs outside of Jake Long really jump out at me. Well Loadholt but has he declared? Still alot of things have not played out after the senior bowl and east west shrine game we might be impressed with some hidden gems. Plus FA will help dictate what our draft day targets will be. At this point I don't have enough scouting on some of these guys. One guy I was impressed with is Michigan guard/center Adam Krause. Versatility is always a big selling point with me.

Now that we have Alex Gibbs coaching, I don't see us taking an O-lineman or RB with our 1st. He is known for finding players that fit his scheme in rounds 4-7.

I see us likely going DB with our first selection with OLB and DE getting consideration if the better talent is there.

Not just that though I mean even then its like what first round LT jumps out at you?

I think the LTs that are the class Long and Clady, will go to the raiders and cheifs. almost back to back as it was last year with Thomas going 3 and Brown going 5

Still alot of scouting to do.
