Default Trading Sage Discussion

The plot thickens.

Quote:
If the Packers decide to trade, Houston's Sage Rosenfels, 29, might be the most attractive candidate.

Such a move probably would cost a second-to-fourth round pick.

In 2007, Rosenfels (6-4˝, 224) started five times for the injured Schaub and had a passer rating of 84.8. A fourth-round pick by Washington in 2001 from Iowa State, Rosenfels, has seven starts and a passer rating of 82.0.

Hmm, interesting. Maybe this will even make Minnesota a little nervous so that they will up their offer. Should be interesting to see how this all plays out, nonetheless.

Hell, I'd take the deal with just their 2nd rounder, even though it is a late 2nd round pick. On second thought Minnesota's 2nd round pick does sound more attractive now.

This is interesting but if they do offer a second do we take it? I believe Schaub will be a good QB when healthy and Kubes has said Schaub is hitting the weight room hard this offseason so maybe that will help but I cant help but worry. If we were to trade Sage I think this is the year to do it. Its a gamble but who is to say we cant get a another vetran in here to back up Schaub. Basically I will go with Smith and Kubes say and do. It is something to think about though.

i'm not a fan of giving up Sage... Matt still hasn't proven he can take the punishment...

However if we are going to let him go then I'd take a second and Ryan Grant... ;-)

Better still how about trading Matt instead....

No we should not trade Matt. im so tired of everyone saying we should get rid of matt blah blah blah. The backup is the most liked player on any team. I dont know about this trade but I do know that we should not trade Matt. Just remember what Matt did when he had Andre. matt looks poised in the pocket and spreads that ball around. look at tape and you will see the diffrence between Matt and Sage. Sage is a good back up and maybe sometimes can come in a game for you and make something of him self but when teams start to get tape of him they will find out real soon what his weaknesses are.

I like Sage, but again he is a backup and if we can somehow get that 2nd round pick back at whatever position I say we do it. I think not having that pick two years in a row hurts.

OMG totally agree with texans83....WTF would we trade a proven NFL QB starter for an unproven teenager. Anyone willing to trade Sage is crazy....CRAZY I SAY!!

Besides every team needs a great 2nd QB, we have one why get rid of him?
